Pity part for one here ![]()
XH and I alternate holidays, and this is his year to take DS for Christmas. Even though we have the days before and after Christmas that are FULL of family events, it still bums me out that I'll be away from DS on Christmas Day. At least XH isn't picking up DS until 10AM so I'll get some time (and snuggles) with him in the morning.
It doesn't help that BF is working Christmas Day either (he's a firefighter)
I'll be with my family so it's not like I'll be alone, but it's still kind of sucky.

Re: Who else will be away from LO on Christmas?
There is no way around that - it sucks for sure. This is our first Christmas divorced, and I fortunately get DD for Christmas morning/all day, although I didn't have her for T-giving, and that was hard for me. Creating new traditions that will have to alternate has been my challenge, as I am a huge fan of building traditions.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and many happy memories!
This is my first holiday season divorced, but we were separated at this time last year. I was in the same boat as you -- didn't have DS on T-day but did on Christmas. It was definitely difficult! Like you, I love having traditions and it'll be a challenge making new traditions that have to be alternated.
Our CO says that Christmas visitation doesn't start until 10am (and is overnight to 10am the following day), so at least each parent gets time with DS on Christmas, even if it's only for a few hours.
Ex will have Wy for 5 hours 1-6 roughly on Christmas. Hell actually probably just pick him up when he wakes up from his nap. Hell also have him
9-6 on Monday. For all the moms to have to be away from their LO make sure you do something nice for yourself. A lot of good movies come out Christmas Day
i know I will be upset my first Christmas away from DS but I'm hoping we can continue to split it.
Not because of custody/time sharing issues, but I will not see DD at all on Christmas day because I have to work a 12 hour shift - I work in a hospital and this is my year for Christmas.
So we are doing Christmas tomorrow on Christmas eve and then she will also have Christmas with my parents on Christmas as well as see her father and his mom for a few hours that morning as well.
It has been a long year, so I think I am still in shock about everything.
Our CO says we alternate holidays, so this year exH was ::supposed:: to have DS on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve - holiday hours are 10-8.
He failed to give me notice in time (CO says he has to notify me 60 hours in advance), and he never even called AT ALL about either so win for me, I got DS on Thanksgiving and today even though it's not my year!
Unfortunately I'm thinking this means that exH has again run away from his problems, last time he was MIA for 18 months...then he came back for the past 3, and I haven't heard from him again since November. Ugh. Way to mess with DS life! Grrrrr!
