Ugh, I hate packing a hospital bag. Last time it was a huge issue between DH and I and I didn't end up doing it until right before going in for my induction. But he brought it up tonight, and I should probably just do it so I don't have to hear about it the next couple weeks.
I guess it annoys me so much bc I feel like 99% of the time, I will have time to grab stuff before we go. Especially bc I am done with work, so it's not like I should have to go right there and not go home first. And also, the main stuff I want, I won't pack ahead because I am still using it!
What else did you find useful?
Nursing bra, t shirt, sweat pants, shorts, flip flops (I plan on mostly wearing their gowns and mesh undies again).
Tooth brush and paste, hair brush, pillow
A baby outfit, baby book (which I don't have yet)
Camera, Video Camera, Laptop, Phone
Snacks, popsicles, water bottle
Re: Hospital Bag
As someone who packed my bag AFTER my water broke and "leaked" all over my house as I was doing it, I HIGHLY recommend having your bag packed ahead of time!
I agree with PP about your own toiletries. Also, don't forget chargers and cords for all your electronics (like the cord to upload your camera pics to your laptop). Ipod?
i dont know if these fall under toiletries but chapstick and lotion- I also brought my own towel b/c hospital towels are thin, a boppy, change/cash for the cafeteria or vending machine,
a pacifier for baby-if using (our hospital used to give them but now they dont- I had to have Two bring them to me)
take home outfit for baby
I brought fuzzy socks and a short cotton robe...
This time my bag was half packed, because my water broke a week early than my scheduled C-section
, but you covered everything I brought...add a pen to the list! Quarters for the soda machine for DH?
Preggers - baby book just for the footprints, not to read. And my hospital has a fridge/freezer on the floor, and they let pts put stuff in there. Even after I was cut off from food last time, I was still allowed to eat popsicles.
Festivus - They broke my water during my induction last time so I didn't even think about leaking all over the house. Ya, that would not be fun!
Chapstick, zip hoodie, and boppy are things that I forgot about, thanks! I actually did use the boppy last time, so I do want to bring that. I'll surprise dh and get this done today or tomorrow while he is at work so that he doesn't harp on it for weeks.
We brought our ipod and docking station. It was great for labor and after when I didn't want TV on but didn't want to sit in a quiet room. So many of the nurses commented that it was nice to walk in and what a great idea.
I was still knitting his blanket so I had that to work on plus a book. The snacks were great and I brought double for DH as well. Maybe put one of his favorite books or magazines in the bag as well- nice to think about how much time he will be there also.
