Since I have been pregnant I have started to suffer from insomnia. I get really tired and go to bed but only sleep maybe 15-20 minutes. Then I will have a sudden adrenaline rush (I call them night panic attacks) that'll keep me up till 5 am. Basically I get so exhausted that I cannot sleep. This has been going on for weeks and nothing is helping. I have tried benadryl (same thing as tylenol pm and unisom). Anyone else having this issue or does anyone have any suggestions to help me sleep? I'm running on 3 hours and cannot sleep to save my life. TIA
Also, I had anxiety issues before I was pregnant.
Re: Anyone having sleep issues?
yes. ambien. (not the CR) i went through that with my first child from week 5 or 6 through week 21 and i swore id never do it again. it was awful. i was so tired but i couldnt sleep. i would get 3 hours max of broken sleep a night.
with this pregnancy, i was able to sleep well until about 10 1/2 weeks. then it started so i asked my OB, all prepared to give my speech and he was just like "okay." had no problem with it. it saved me, i dont know what i would have done without it. i took it until i was about 18 weeks then stopped. now i sleep fine.
unisom never worked for me. it worked one time and made me sleepy but then after that initial usage, nothing.
i had the 5mg dose which is a low ambien does. most nights though i would break it in half and that would do the trick. my problem was falling asleep....if i could fall asleep initially it didnt matter if i woke up 3-4 times to go to the bathroom bc i could go back to sleep.
After 22 cycles and tube removal our IVF miracle has arrived! Detailed IF and IVF info in bio.
Thank you and I will ask my doctor about it. I have the same issue too. I'll lay down and I can't really fall asleep. It's awful!
It really does!! I'm going to talk to my doc about a sleep aid. I feel really bad because I am turning into a monster and my family is trying so hard to help. I just want real sleep. I was also thinking of getting one of those pregnancy pillows.
I have always had night anxiety and was on Ambien for years. (the only time i could sleep through the night)
My doctor said ABSOLUTELY NO i should not take it when PG.
(even though What to Expect says its fine)
I am sad, i sleep like crap without the Ambien.
