I've been lurking on the CD board and read through the FAQ's, but I'm curious as to how CDing works with twins. I bought two gDiaper covers tonight and inserts and I.am.sold. I love these. How many covers and prefolds should I get for the girls? Thanks so much.
Re: Do any of you ladies cloth diaper your twins?
Congrats on your triplets!! Healthy weights, too. You must be so thrilled.
idk anything about cloth diapers, but i admire anyone who uses them!
We plan to CD the twins and will get twice as much as we had with DS.
We have 24 fitteds, 6 AIO's and 24 prefolds with about 6 covers (need to get a few more)
If you are doing just prefolds and covers I'd go with at least 48 or even a couple more so you can do laundry every other day and maybe 8 covers. Gdiapers are OK but they get messy with nb poo whereas the actual prefolds and covers contain things better and you have more likelyhood of reusing the cover.

I've CD my girls since we brought them home from the hospital at 2 weeks old. At the initial newborn stage we had 48 prefolds and 12 covers. I know that gDiapers work a little bit differently, so I don't know how many of those I would recommend.
Now I use bumgenius 4.0 and we have about 50 or so, as well as 6 Kawaii night time diapers (that I've been really impressed with, especially for the price). We wash about every 3 days or so. We have so many diapers so that we don't have to wash as often. If you are willing to wash more often, you could certainly get by with less.
I also would recommend doing a diaper trial to see if there are any other diapers you like better than the gdiapers. I think they are super cute, but honestly I think there are other ones that leak a lot less (but the gDiapers may work best for your kiddos...). From what I recall, Jillians Drawers did a trial so that you could try out different types of diapers.
I initially bought tons of Rumparooz because I thought I loved them, but soon discovered that they leaked about every other use with my girls.
I am totally sold on CD and dread having to use sposies when we travel!
Good luck!
I'm definitely going to. I CDd both of my boys and absolutely love it in every way. I'll also be SAH instead of working, which will make washing them just a little easier (even if everything else is way more hectic!)
For their NB stage, I have 5 dozen Imagine prefolds and 10 covers. They were quite a bit cheaper than the GMD diapers that everyone else seems to rave about, and I got the same ply as those. I probably could have gotten away with 4 dozen and 8 covers, but wanted to give myself a little slack in that department. Oh, and I have 3 Kissaluvs Fitteds, and might buy more if they work out well.
For the non-Newborn stage, I've been buying one-size diapers when they are a good deal. Right now, I have 24 Kawaii (all different types), 24 FuzziBunz, and 16 Bum Genius. I think I might have a few too many, but want to be able to have enough of what I do like while I work on selling what I don't, if I don't. But I also figure about 64 might be a good number for two anyhow. I know I had 24 FB with my son (with just one in diapers) and that was a good amount.
Hope this helps! Depending on the size of your daughters now, you might be able to just start with the one-sized diapers. I agree with the PP, try a few out so you know what you like and what works well, if you are able!
I exclusively cloth diapered my first two singletons. I will have 3 in diapers when the twins come, but I plan on continuing with cloth (even if I will occassionally buy sposies, especially in the beginning).
I have 36 BG 3.0 that I have used with my other girls. If I need additional ones, I will purchase something else - possible pre-folds.
I also CD my twins, and have CD's since they were a few months old exclusively. Prior it was only for 1, due to the other being in a corrective base that did not allow for the CD bulk.
I've used AIO's, pockets, AI2's, prefolds, PUL and wool. We're now using AI2's during the day, and prefolds with a hemp insert and wool cover for nighttime. We wash every other day, and have found it to be very manageable.
For the newborn stage, I would get 4 dozen prefolds, and 12-15 covers. Once they're 8lbs, you can decide if you want to transition to OS diapers or stick with a sized system.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
We CD. I used prefolds and Thirsties covers for the first couple of months (we had I think 36 prefolds and 12 covers) and now we use all pockets & AIO diapers (mostly Kawaii and BumGenius). I think we have 30 now in our rotation.
ETA: I do a load of diapers every day with this amount, though.
I am CDing my twins and LOVE IT! It's so easy! If anyone tells you you can't/shouldn't CD ask them how many of their babies they cloth diapered. Seriously, I got to believing everyone and was scared I couldn't do it. All it means is one extra load of laundry a day. That's it! I always have disposables on hand (just a few) just in case laundry doesn't get done so there's no pressure on me but I have never had to use them.
As for a NB stash I would recommend:
24 preemie prefolds
4 Bummis preemie covers (these fit until 8 lbs)
36 newborn prefolds
6-10 covers (my favorites when they were tiny were Thirsties Duo Wraps size 1 with "hook and loop"(velcro)
Once they grow out of these they will fit into any "one size" diaper. I have a variety of about 60 and my favorites are BumGenius and Rumparoos. Our favorite covers are still Thirsties.
GL!
I cd'd DS and loved prefolds and covers. For a single I used 2-3 dozen and 4-6 covers. When the twins were tiny I did 3-4 dozen and 8 ish covers. I really liked the thirsties duo's for covers since each size spanned 2 sizes.
Honestly I didn't like prefolds and covers when doing cloth times two. I switched over to pockets and love them. I use the fuzzibunz one size and they're fantastic.Stuffing is a bit of a pain, but they dry faster than my few AIO's ... so it's worth it.
