Our DD is in the toddler room at daycare (15 month-30month olds). She was supposed to move to the preschool room in May, however, now they decided to move her in February to make room for new babies.
We were planning to starting potty training in January (we are traveling for the holidays so can't start it sooner). DH and I both have a 3 day weekend in January for MLK day, so we thought that would be great timing.
Now that DD is going to move to the preschool room only 2 weeks after we start PT, should we even bother with it? I know they don't recommend doing PT when there are big transitions (and this would be a big one, going from a classroom of 8 to a room of 20 kids).
Re: PT and changing rooms at daycare?
3 day PT method is a great start but many LO's still have accidents and it may take several wks to several months for your DD to be fully trained.
IMO-go ahead and start over MLK wknd & maybe she'll be ahead of the curve. Express to the new teachers they may need to ask your DD if she has to go on the occasion rather than her initiating the act. They're pre-school teachers and should have experience in this area. Also, if there are other children PT in her new classroom it sets a great example.Monkey see, monkey do sort of thing.
My DD took 3 months to become fully PT and she switched classrooms in the middle of the process. I also had a baby & we did a vacation w/ a flight and road trip; so she was overwhelmed w/ big transitions and still managed just fine!
