I need encouragement---this pregnancy is killing me!

This week has been so difficult!  I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow and am so ready to have these babies here.  On Monday, they were 4.11 oz. and 4.9 oz. so they are growing well.  Doctor says we will schedule my c section when I see him next Tuesday. It will be for the first week of January (37 weeks) I have gained 15lbs. in 2 weeks and am having a lot of heart burn and problems breathing.  I've had a chest cold that won't go away since about Thanksgiving, dr. gave me an inhaler yesterday.  I need some encouragment, suggestions, anything!!!!!  HELP!

  • I don't have any suggestions but I do know that you CAN do it. You are in the home stretch! You have made it further than so many others and your babies are better off for it. It is easy for me from the outside to envy your situation because I am at such a high risk for preterm labor so, you carry those babies until 37 weeks for all of us who couldn't or can't!!!! I can only imagine how uncomfortable that you are now because I feel whiney and out of breath at the stage I am in! YOU GO GIRL!!

This!  Once you have those beautiful little ones in your arms you will be so glad that you kept them in so long.  Good luck!  We all know how tough it is but you can do it!

  • You're at the toughest part.  YOU CAN DO IT!  Rest as much as you can and enjoy your last pregnant weeks.  Strangely, I missed it...even the last few weeks.

    Good luck!

  • You are doing GREAT and you can do this!!!  I remember crying and begging my OB for anything to make me feel less miserable right around where you are, but I survived (until my water broke at 36w4d) and so will you!  You are in the home stretch now, and you will feel so great and so proud of yourself for keeping them in so long when you are holding your babies in your arms.   Keep your feet up, drink lots of water, and try to find whatever you can to distract you and make the time fly.  You are almost there!

  • Just take it one day at a time, and if that's too much take it one HOUR at a time.  Pamper yourself, sleep as much as you can, eat what you can that doesn't make you sick wit heartburn.  You are SO close...I know it feels like an eternity but (from someone who hates being pregnant in general, particularly with twins) you will forget the extent of your misery within a few weeks after having them ;)

  • Mylanta helped me with the intense heartburn. Every day you can keep those babies inside is worth every bit of discomfort. You can do it!

  • Gosh, I think your my hero.  Im at 30 weeks and miserable.  I will do whatever it takes to keep these boys cooking.  But the moments of utter misery, when you can't do it anymore already peaks for me.     Your in my prayers and hope your landing is smooth.  Keep us updated.

  • I'm right there with you! But we're so close to our outside babies!! I know it's super uncomfortable and I can only laugh when I can't even put my socks on without help.  But when we buckle the little ones in to go home all of this will be well worth it!! (I'm a few weeks behind you and both are measuring at 3.8 as of yesterday..so I can really feel your pain.) Plus one day we can use this when they are whiny teens...lol! Hang in there and I cannot wait for you to hold those babies! Big Smile sending you positive thoughts!!

  • I'm not too far behind you, and I totally feel the same way. I just try to keep reminding myself that each day that they are in there is the best for them.  It's hard, but it WILL get better!!

  • Man, I'm feeling the same way that you are and I'm only 15 weeks.  So, I guess its going to be a LONG road for me.  I have had heartburn since about week 7.  It got the the point where tums wouldn't do the trick.  So, I've been taking prilosec and it works really well.  Maybe, if you can get your heartburn under control that will be one less uncomfortable factor you'll have to deal with.  I too, have had the head cold thing since Thanksgiving.  I guess that's normal during pregnancy because our sinues are swollen....along with everything else :)

I've never done this before, so I have no experiences to pull from.  I'm sure when i'm as far as long as you are, I'll be reaching out for support.  I hope that people will tell me to think about being able to take home our babies when we get to leave the hospital...no NICU time.  That will be your reward!!!!

Hopefully, you'll be able to be around your family and friends during this time and have them wait on you hand and foot.  Ask them to make you something you're craving or a sweet dessert.  Good luck sister...hang in there and hold on to the fact that you'll have take home babies!

  • Oh my god, the heartburn... I was waking up every night around 4am with ridiculous heartburn, some nights to the point where I'd get sick because of it. I started taking 2 teaspoons of the Walmart version of Mylanta every night before bed and that's helped a ton. Tums helps a little when I get it during e day, but for me it's the worst at night.

I'm also putting on weight a lot more quickly since I got put on bed rest. I'm trying to be good about it, but I gained 5 pounds in the past 9 days. Getting in and out of bed is such a chore and kills my back, but I'm trying to avoid sleeping in the recliner. My c-section is scheduled for my 37th week as well and while I'm very uncomfortable I'm hoping they stay put until the c-section. Just keep in mind that there's an end in sight!

  • I'm 31w3d now and I feel your pain! There are times that I can't wait for these babies to get here, but I know that I ultimately want them to stay in as long as they are willing.

    You're doing a great job--hang in there!!

  • I am just a few days ahead of you and have my c-section scheduled for 1/12 (38w2d). Just wanted to commiserate and say that it stinks right now but I'm really trying to focus on keeping those babies in as long as possible! I am right there with you on the heartburn and breathing. I actually started taking Nexium for the heartburn last week because I couldn't eat or sleep and I was really about to die. We WILL make it!!

  • You have done great and you can totally make these last few weeks.  Just think how great it will be to have full term healthy twins that go home with you.  I totally remember thinking I couldn't survive another day but I did and so can you.  Pamper yourself as much as possible.  I got the loveliest pedicure right before the girls were born and the foot massage was heaven - whatever it takes.

  • You got this. Just do whatever you have to get through this. Every day they stay in is so critical now. *hugs*

  • For my heartburn I took Prevacid TWICE a day per my doctors suggestion.

I know you think your not going to make it much longer but you can...and you WILL! The longer in there the better. At 35 weeks I was DONE but then I made it 1 more week. My water broke and it all went by so fast...your almost there mama hang on tight, your going to blink and this pregnancy will be over!

    GL!
