infant carseats - same pattern or different?

Do your infants switch off or have their "own" seat?  Is it better to have 2 different patterns to tell each ones apart or does it not matter if they share and switch?  I was just thinking if they are sick, etc. but they will be sharing a crib so does it matter if they share car seats?

Re: infant carseats - same pattern or different?

  • We did the same pattern, just for aesthetics reasons.  As for sharing carseats, I really don't think it's a big deal when they are sick because they share everything else.  Baby drool is everywhere, I'm afraid.  The only reason that I could see why you'd want to be able to tell carseats apart is your babies may need different fittings for the safety belts and you won't have to readjust them.  But you can easily put a mark, sticker, etc. on one (or both) to tell them apart.

  • We have two of the same carseat and same color. I dont really think it will matter too much if we switch them around in their seats.

  • We are having boy/girl so we are getting a very similar pattern but one that is pink and black and one that is tan and black.

  • We have the same color/pattern.  However, the hospital gave us emergency stickers whenever the bases/seats were installed, so we put those on the inside.  Once we did that, we wanted to make sure the boys were always in their own seat, so instead of having to look at the sticker (under the padding) each time, we marked their initials on the inside of the handle.

One of the reasons this was important to us is because the boys have different blood types...our rationale just being that if the hospital needed to know them apart, and something had happened to us, etc.

  • We had the same pattern car seats.  But two different toys that hung on the car seat handle. So that we could tell whose seat was whose.
  • We have the same pattern car seats.  I just stuck a pink toy on DD's and a blue toy on DS's carseats (although I still get asked all.the.time about my two boys).
  • We have two different ones but just because we liked two different ones... I wouldn't worry about them sharing the seats.
