question about Disney with an infant...

Orangesmoke and browneyedgirl I know you guys will check out this post!! browneyed I know you have been there when Brady was an infant

OK so I feel like I am a pretty experience Disney goer with a toddler BUT we plan on going next December so I will have a 4 1/2 month old! I figure the baby will be pretty easy so I am not to worried about that but I am trying to decide on a stroller.  I have 3 options.  which is best.  We are trying to book at BLT if that matters.

1. Rent a stroller for Katie and bring the infant seat with our snap and go.  But  will it be a pain in the butt dealing with the infant seat on the bus plus the snap and go is kind of a crappy stroller. But without an infant seat what will I do with the baby at restaurants since s/he will be little for a high chair and I would rather not hold them the entire time.

2. Rent a stroller for Katie and use our McClaren for the baby but not sure how comfortable a 4 1/2 month old will be in the McClaren.

3. Rent a double city mini from orlando stroller rentals so I can have both kids on one stoller (that way K does not have to walk from the busor to MK from BLT) but the thought if a double stroller on the buses is not to appealing.

I do plan on wearing the baby a decent amount but I still need a stroller.  Thoughts??

Re: question about Disney with an infant...

  • Yup I have done disney with infants! Once with the twins at 5 months old and Brady at 4 months old!

I would not go with the snap n go with car seat, that will be a pain in the arse!

I probably would do is rent a Disney stroller for Katie and bring your stroller for "Mary" because it is the easiest. One of my reasons I am  leaning towards this say you have to go the baby center with "Mary" and DH is with Kate, I would want him to have a stroller in case Katie gets tired. That way if you need to go back to the room too you have the stroller.

As far as the infant seat not having it at the restaurants, most of them have infant high chairs that that sorta of cradle them. If you go on FB and look at my pictures from Disney when the twins were small you will see pictures of them in that. I know that most of them have those sits but the ones that do not have them, if you ask to bring the stroller in they will allow you too! We took the stroller in Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table, and many others. Also, if the baby is sleeping just tell them and they will make room for the stroller at the table!

  • I would go the double stroller route (rent or bring).  Are you thinking about buying a double stroller at all for the new baby?

When I was there last time, I saw they had these fancy little car seat-y thingy in restaurants for infants to sit in while the adults ate.  I think Browneyedgirl has also mentioned this...

As for stroller/bus issue.  I found that the BLT was super awesome in the sense that I almost never had to fold up my stroller unless I wanted to go to AK.  MK I walked, Epcot I took the monorail.  For HWS, we took the bus there in the morning, spent the morning there, then the boat to epcot for lunch and then a boat to MK and walk back to BLT.

  • Opps forgot to mention, I found it was easiest to wear Brady on the bus. I took my infant carrier (I had bjourn at the time) and it was so much easier on the bus. This way Katie could go in the stroller if need be!

Trust bringing a double stroller on the bus with more then 1 kid is a pain in the butt! I have also done two strollers (one a double) and 3 kids! PAIN!

  • browneyed and krissy you guys both have great points.  It did not even cross my mind to have 2 separate stollers in case I need to be with the baby and Dh is with Katie because I am sure that will happen like when I am nurning and need to shage her.  But Krissy you are totally right I have visions of carrying Katie for those long walks back to the hotel!!  I dont really want to have 2 separate strollers because that would suck on the bus......hmm I suppose I could wear the baby if I need to leave DH and he can keep the double stroller for Katie.

  • I would do the double stroller.  Trying to navigate with 2 strollers is going to be a pain.  What if Katie doesnt want to be in the stroller and someone has to hold her hand/chase after her but you have 2 strollers to push?  As long as you have a double that folds nicely, it should be just as convenient as bringing a single on the bus.

I bought a cheapie used double umbrella stroller for our trip but my kids will be 3.5 and 15 months so it's quite a bit different than you.

  • This is my designated Disney stroller, I rarely use it for anything else now that the boys can walk into DC.

Folds in a pinch, and reclines completely flat for those on the go naps.  I bought a brand new one of CL for $125!

  • Orangesmoke- I missed your oringal response when I replied.  More good points!  I was thinking that at BLT it will be less bus time.  I don't really plan on buying a double for us because Katie will be over 3 and she barely rides in her stroller as it is now but thanks for the link I will check it out.  I think I am leaning toward renting the city mini.

LisaMarisa....agreed that chasing Katie with 2 stollers will be impossible!!

  • We live right by Disneyland, so we've had many trips there with infants.  When the boys were little we did three separate strollers (three ultra-lightweight McClarens), so that we could split up if necessary.  It's definitely a bit more work, but was so worth it when we were there.  This time around, I've basically worn the baby every time.  We do bring her stroller, but I could've done without it for most of the day.  I would say, if the LO is going to be on you most of the time, you could do the McClaren since she won't be in it much and it's easy to fold quickly.

  • Last trip (November) we brought the Combi Sport Twin and rented Disney stroller. It was actually not a problem at all with keeping up with one of the twins that was using the Disney stroller because they are so freaking lite and easy to push.
