3rd Internal and I am

I went for my third internal exam today I am 37 weeks 2 days today and they said I am 3cm dialated... wow...it just does not seem like I should be that far. I was a 1 for the other two exams. For those 2nd time moms can I stay at a 3 or even progress slightly farther and not actually go into labor yet? I am having mild contractions here and there nothing major and nothing that is like horrible pains yet.

I know I am not going to make it to my due date I would just like to make it to end of next week so I can have a couple more days at work to get things done. I have no control over when she comes she knows when she is ready.

I have been at a 3 and 80 percent effaced for a week now. Before that I was at a 2 & 50 percent for 2 weeks. You could still have some time.

You might be at 3cm for a while. My SIL hung out at 5cm for almost a month, was still induced, and had a long labor. Crazy! I started feeling strong, hard contractions around 4-5 cm with both, but some people go from being closed to labor within a day. I wouldn't even worry until your water breaks, or you feel strong contractions that get progressively worse. The last month is an annoying guessing game, imo. I'm just trying to stay occupied and not think about it.

With my first I was 2-3 cm and 80% effaced for weeks and ended up being induced at 41 weeks and it still took 37 hours. With my 2nd I wasn't dilated at all and went into labor and had my son at 38 weeks 6 days. You just never know!
