Upstate NY Babies

The one santa gift ethan wanted was ruined

by our dcp.  I put this in the whine yesterday but I am still upset.  All ethan has asked for was a baby steam roller after we played at kim's.  I was happy b/c it was one of the first gifts I bought.  Tonka makes a 5 pack of little cars.  Yesterday she gave it to him and he hasn't put it down.  He slept with it during his nap and took it to bed with him.  I know it is selfish but I wanted him to have that reaction to a gift I bought him.  Now I have to go back to Walmart so I can return them.

ok whine over.

  • Oh, that sucks.  I'd be upset, too!  But, I think I'd wait on returning it.  I'd keep it up for him in case it gets lost, and then supermom can come to the rescue with a replacement! :)

  • I saw your whine and I tried really hard to come up with a good solution/fix but I have nothing. I'm so sorry. I would be crushed too.

  • I'm so sorry. I'd feel really hurt, too. Has he been talking about it to the DCP? It was a nice gesture on her part, but I would be pretty upset with her because she hadn't checked with you first.
  • That really sucks, I'm sorry =(

  • dcp never checked with us.  he has been talking about it non stop.  so she thought she was doing a good thing. i probably won't return it that way Sophia can play with them too and not get yelled at by her brother.

I'll just hope he goes bonkers over the fur real kitten he is getting

  • I would be bummed...this is one reason why I tell the grandparents ahead of time what we are getting the boys for Christmas/birthdays, so that they do not buy the one special gift that we really want to give to them.

definitely the bolded! you know it'll get misplaced at some point!

and don't forget how fickle toddlers are, one minute they think one toy is the bee's knees, blink and boom they have all new favorites! i'm sure he will love all the stuff you got him!

  • Aw, that stinks!

If it makes you feel better my dad is getting Charlie the one & only thing he wants because there is no way this Santa is getting it for him! I am still really excited to see his reaction, but it stinks a little that *I* couldn't have done it.

Honestly, I'm sure in the excitement of Christmas morning it won't even occur to him, he'll be so excited about everything else :)

YOUR DAD IS GETTING IT FOR HIM!!? HOW AWESOME IS THAT!

Anyway, Julie.. I'm really sorry. I'd be so sad too. I can't believe she didn't check with you.. I mean I know she loves your kids but its really not her place to get him the ONE thing he's been asking for.  Is there another kind of one you could get him so Santa could bring it too?

Yup, Nick's bringing it home tomorrow from work & grandpa will give it to him (well us, it is a family gift!) on Christmas Eve.

Have I ever mentioned that my dad is freaking nuts?! I guess it beats the trampoline he wanted to get for them though- I put my foot down to that one though.

  • Wait wait wait....the $3000 hockey table?? Omg! I hope you take pics! And jewels, I'm sorry about Ethan's gift, could you ask him to ask Santa for something else? I agree with what a pp said, he's all about the steamroller now, but by Christmas he'll be ready for a new toy :)

Well, it is only $1500 for DH... yeah, nuts. DH is customizing the logos right now.

I think I may take video. Charlie is going to flip.

  • kim you better video it.  i want to see his reaction
  • I would totally still wrap it and put it under the tree from Santa.  If he really likes it that much, he may just be super excited to get a SECOND set!  If he questions getting a second set, just tell him Santa must not have known or thought he may want to share them with his sister or keep a set at Grandma's house or something!
