If you've tried formula at all...

Has your baby ever refused it? I give LO one bottle a day with 2 oz formula 2 oz BM, he has taken it no problem. Just now for the heck of it I tried to just give him straight formula. He took one suckle and made a face like he was grossed out...I kept trying and he started to gag. 

Anyone's LO refuse formula? I'm nervous because when I go back to work in 4 weeks I have to supplement with formula during the day.

    She will only take it if she is really hungry and there is no breast milk.  Even then, she only eats the minimum needed to make her happy.

    DD1 would not take it. After a week I stopped working because after 3 days of trying to give her formula she wouldnt take a bottle of anything. DD2 took a formula or bm she just wanted to eat. DS will only eat an oz or two of formula so I have to pump :?( it sucks.

    Everytime I smell formula, I gag. I can only imagine how it tastes to them if they're used to BM! If you have to give LO formula, maybe you could try adding less and less BM as you go until he gets used to the taste of formula?

    Not formula but DD has had vitamin drops, gripe water, zantac droppers, gas drops, prune juice.  I think she'd drink anything LOL.  But compared to BM formula even smells funny to me.  I'm sure babies notice the difference in taste.  If you have to supplement with formula it's probably best to continue increasing the amounts in the bottles until he gets used to the taste.  Or keep mixing it half and half since he's taking it that way already.

    DD is supplemented w/ formula. She will take it straight or mixed w/ BM.  She doesn't seem to care.  I have given her Gerber, Similac, Enfamil (all free samples) and Up & Up.  I guess she's like Mikey - she'll eat (drink) anything. I'm lucky to have a laid-back child :)
