VBAC

VBAC after Sunny Side Up?

LO was "sunny side up" so he didn't drop and I didn't get past 4 cm so we went with the c-section.  I am hoping for a VBAC with #2 - was anyone successful or unsuccessful the second time around in the same situation?

Re: VBAC after Sunny Side Up?

  • My DS was sunny side up, with his head kinked to the side.  I was induced, got to 9cm, and was there for 6 hours before they pressured me into the c/s.  I'm planning a home VBAC in March.  I just wanted to let you know there are others with similar histories planning on a VBAC!  :-)

  • My c/s was for a sunny side-up baby and I had an easy, uncomplicated VBAC.  My second was even a little larger than my first baby.  Positioning really makes a huge difference and there is no reason to think you can't have your next baby vaginally.

We've had a bunch of ladies on here who had VBACs after a sunny side up baby.  GL!

Do you mind sharing the size difference between your babies?  I hadn't really considered a VBAC, but now that I'm pregnant again, the thought has crossed my mind.  My only concern is DS was posterior and 9lbs9oz.  I'm really hoping the next one isn't much bigger!

I am hoping for a Vbac with baby #2. I am also hoping the next one is not big.. My DS was sunny side up too. He was 8lbs 11oz.

  • For me, it was all about positioning. DS1 was OP/sunny-side up, and didn't come out after 4+ hours of pushing. He was 8 lb, 4 oz.

I had a successful VBAC with no complications with DS2, who was 10 lb, 10 oz, and 23.5 inches, so substantially bigger than my first.

    DS1 - Feb 2008

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

  • DS2 was posterior toward the end of my pregnancy. I honestly didn't think too much of it because I know they often flip before labor. I got into several positions daily to help him turn and I saw a chiropractor. I'm not sure if any of that helped him turn, but he did and I deliver him vaginally! :)
  • DD1 was sunny side up and 7lb 6oz

    DD2 was a successful VBAC and 8lb 12oz

  • DD #1 was a C-section due to her being sunny-side up, and having a couple of heart decels during labor. I was able to successfully have a VBAC with the delivery of DD #2 about 2 weeks ago! It can be done, you just have to find an OB or midwife who is supportive of your wishes and desires.
