January 2012 Moms

I'm in the process of ordering some things...

and I was wondering, what types of bottles/brands are you going to use with your LOs?  I'm going to breast feed for the first 2 - 3 months and I've gotten Born Free and MilkBank.  I wanted to order the MAM bottles, but they aren't in stock anywhere.

What other brands do you swear by or does your baby love?  There are sooo many - help a confused mom out! lol

  • I'm a FTM, but I got Dr. Brown's and I got a Medela gift set so I have those bottles as well.

  • We bought one few Avent and a few Dr. Brown.  Plan to try Avent first and if DS doesn't like it, move on to Dr. Brown, then if he doesn't like those, then we'll go to the store!  Smile  Once we figure out which kind he likes, I plan to just go with that and not mess w/ a variety.

Babies seem to be pretty brand loyal when it comes to nipples/bottles.

  • All the babies that I've nannied for have used Dr. Brown's, so I got a pack of those, but got some glass Avent bottles at my baby shower, so I'm gonna try both!

  • Per recommendation from a few different friends we went with the Tommee Tippee bottles

  • I BFd for 13mo and used playtex ventaire wide. Love them! Just a heads up- If you are going to bottle feed, you should introduce the bottle between 3 and 4 weeks and give one a day to keep LO used to them. If you wait too long you could get total refusal.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be staying at home for the first 6 weeks, so that definitely helps to know!

My H was almost always the one to give the bottle, and we made it the last feeding before bed. My supply was usually starting to drop by then, so the bonus was that he could get a little more in him before bed, and slept better. Then I'd have a couple more hours before I would pump and go to bed myself.

H loved the time he got when giving DS his bottle, in fact, I think he took DS self-weaning from the bottle harder than I took DS self-weaning from BFing!!

  • I got some Avent bottles to go with my breast pump and for storage, plus I have a few Breastflow by the First Years. It's between those 2 brands, just waiting for DD to take her pick! LOL

  • I know a couple of people that have had good luck with Dr. Browns, so we got the infant starter set. Planning on breastfeeding but introducing a bottle at about 6 weeks so I can pump during the day and get some sleep at night.
  • We have glass Evenflo bottles, and some playtex dropins. If those don't work we'll run to BRU or something and buy something else to try.
