Background: I get UTI's somewhat frequently (maybe 3 times a year). And I had two kidney stones while pregnant.
I've had some pain (what I would consider kidney pain) since Saturday and it's getting progressivly worse. Sometimes it feels like when I had my kidney stones but then it goes away and I feel fine. I can normally catch a UTI early based on symptons but I've had none. So I don't know if I had/have a UTI and it's now turning into a kidney infection. Or maybe I have a stone again. But the pain is on both sides ![]()
I don't have a PCP so I called my OB's office and they said that if my symptoms sound like a simple UTI/bladder infection they can call in an antibiotic. But when I said I had back/abdominal pain she said that if it is a kidney infection they can't treat me, go to your PCP. So I had planned on going to Urgent Care tonight after work since it's easier than trying to get an urgent appt as a new patient somewhere.
Ok so the weird thing is that I'm spotting all of a sudden now. I am on the NuvaRing and haven't had any problems with it. I never have breakthrough bleeding or spotting. So I don't know if I really need to go to the OB due to the spotting or Urgent Care for kidney/UTI? I don't want to wait any longer and let things get bad and then offices be closed for Christmas Eve/Christmas. Has anyone had anything like this happen? Would you just go to Urgent Care?
ETA: I wouldn't just go to my OB for spotting alone. I just thought that my pain may be caused by something else like PID or something not urinary tract related.
Re: Can Dr. SAIF diagnose me?
I would go to Urgent Care now....rather than waiting it out...And while you are there ask if there are any PCP accepting patients in your area.
Good luck!
