No, our daycare is doing a Parent's day out event for its students ( a few hours this Saturday) so that parents can get a little Christmas shopping time in this weekend. It's not very popular right now...I was just wondering if it's a new idea or if other daycares do this too.
It's very popular around here. Some places do it for free (mostly the church based programs and they open it to church members too) and some do it for a fee. I think its a great option to have.
ours offers a "parents night out" once a month. you sign up and pay a fee per child.
Ours only offers the night option every couple of months though a day time option during the holidays would be great! DD is staying with my parents for a few hours this Saturday so we can finish shopping for her presents.

I thought ours did like once a year, but we have been there over a year and I haven't heard anything -so I guess not! lol.
I would love something like that (even if we had to pay) - just to go have dinner with DH...alone...would be fab! ;-) We have a ton of family around, but it's just a pain in coordinating with them and trying to make them happy so they can watch the kids (taking them to their house, etc), so it would be much better to drop them off with the teachers they already know and know they are having fun - plus, it's just down the street for us. We don't have family *that* close by. Maybe I should put this in their suggestion box. haha.
Ours offers it once a month or so, I think. I think it's 10 bucks a kid, so really reasonable. We haven't done it yet, mostly because I'm not sure if there's a lower age limit (I don't think it's run by the daycare)
Ours does parents night out once a month - $30 for the first kid, $25 for each additional one. They give them pizza & watch movies and it goes until midnight.
They usually do it twice during December for an extra "Christmas shopping" night. The price is great, IMO, when you compare it to a sitter. Plus, it is with people they know and you trust.
Of course, that said...we've never done it. 75% of the time we're leaving town and the rest of the time we just decide not to spend the money. But some families do it every single month.
