  • I would love to start leave in January...probably once I hit 38 weeks. Unfortunately my work is undermanned, and while I wouldn't be denied leave, I would hate to leave my shop short-handed sooner than is necessary.

I still put "not yet" because if I get the all-clear, it is TOTALLY happening!

  • I'm out on leave, but I would have preferred to wait a little bit. I'm not due until the End of January and the doctor put me out the end of November.
  • Waiting til baby gets here since I don't really get ML.

  • Technically my maternity leave has started, but I'm self employed and so it never REALLY stops... (I wish it would, I'm starting to get downright grumpy!)

  • I'm a teacher so I'm out for Christmas (and by "out" i mean I don't go into work but having been working all day from the sofa grading papers, writing recommendation letters, and planning for the sub).

I will go back the first week of January and then go out on official maternity leave.

  • I'm not actually on "maternity leave" yet but I'm an elementary school teacher and we are on Christmas break, my maternity leave starts the first day of the new semester. So basically yes, but technically no :)

  • My maternity leave was set to start on January 9th, however since last week I have been put on modified bedrest until baby is born, so I'm off work :)

  • I am delivering (RCS) on 1/12 and am working through 1/9...that gives me one day for myself, another day to travel to the hospital for my preadmission testing and get home in time to pick my daughter up from school at the end of the day without sending her to aftercare, then baby time!

I know with my daughter I wanted every.single.second at home with her that I could possibly have!  I'm taking the full 12 weeks FMLA (minus those two days prior to delivering) to be home with her...there is NO WAY I could have sent my daughter into someone else's care at just 8 weeks or so, and I know from experience to not even risk the mental/emotional breakdown of trying to do that with this one either!  It will be hard enough at 12 weeks, but at least the baby will hopefully be on a schedule, I'll know that I've spent as much time with the baby as possible before returning to work...and it helps knowing that I'll be going back to a 4-day work week instead of five!
