which would you trust or prioritize regarding schools when choosing a new home:
a) schools with the highest test scores, less diverse, slightly lower prices, more home inventory
b) schools with good test scores, highly recommended over option a) by a principal you trust in a nearby district, more diverse, slightly higher prices, less inventory

Re: clicky poll re: schools
We regret bringing DSS into AISD. His mom moved him initially, and we stayed in DSISD hoping we could eventually get him back out there. With this year's major falling out, we would have given almost anything to get him out of AISD. We looked into every available alternative, including putting our house on the market.
My focus is culture and how the students are treated. I'm only really familiar with those two districts, though.
that is a good point! thanks.
we will be in aisd, we won't be moving out of austin anytime soon. i agree that dsisd is amazing!
you know i love ya more than my luggage
This.
AND, I'm sorry, I didn't see which option puts Annie and Alice in the same Kinder-12 classes. I vote for whichever that one is.
well what if they move to the ritzy side with you guys, then you'll be even CLOSER. and then they'll be too scared to cross mopac again. sigh.
In that case, I support the move. And, we have a truck.
Test scores are not everything...if they're all within exemplary/recognized/acceptable ratings, then they'd make the first cut for me. Everything else is going to be dependent on what people have to say about the school. I worked at a school that is now recognized [believe it was acceptable while I worked there] and there's nowayinhell I'd ever send my kids there. Ever. In the same vein, you can have a fantastic school and get a sh!tty teacher and have a bad experience too.
In your case, I'd absolutely go with the highly recommended school!
This, exactly. I would also look at resale value.
