someone in our house keeps peeing her pants

and it's not me. ruby has been fully potty trained for about nine months. the last two weeks, she has started peeing her pants at home. not at school or when we're out, but at home. i think she does it so she can change into another outfit and panties, something she loves to do. she actually only pees a tiny little bit most days, just enough to make her pants smell like pee and then she finishes on the toilet. i've considered making her keep the wet pants on for a bit so she cant change clothes, but that's just gross and cruel to me. im pretty frustrated, as we're going through like four pairs of pants and underpants each day. i need a good consequence for peeing your pants but cant think of anything.

Re: someone in our house keeps peeing her pants

  • does she have an outfit that she doesn't like?  panties that she doesn't like?  Could you tell her that anytime she has an accident, she has to put those 'bad' clothes on, so maybe she won't want to?

is that cruel?  I dunno... I'm obviously the mom of a 7 month old, not a toddler!

  • Are her panties and clothes accessible to her?  I was just thinking if she's having little accidents so she can change her clothes maybe just have the clothes/panties accessible for changing when she wants?

Sorry you're having so many accidents a day :-(  I hope it stops soon!

    I was wondering this too.

Or, is there something like a pantyliner you could put in her undies? I know nothing about potty training, but maybe that would motivate her without punishing her for the accidents?

  • Does she change herself or do you help her?  If you help her, stop.  That could easily be part of the reason she's doing it.  I would stay away from consequences/punishments, but tell her that she is responsible for changing her wet clothes.  If you need to go further, she could also be responsible for washing them.
