(TMI) Anyone else experiencing diarrhea often?

I thought this was an issue, and it's been pretty bad the last couple of days. I had my monthly visit with dr. yesterday and mentioned it to him. He didn't seem worried at all. Told me to do a clear liquid diet for a day or 2 and if that didn't help, call back. Well I tried doing it all day yesterday but was so hungry by the end of the day I ate some dinner rolls and gold fish crackers, thinking those wouldn't be too rough on my tummy. Well around midnight I was up and in the bathroom again. And again this morning. And again when I got to work.

I'm trying my best to stay hydrated and not call into work because I've missed a few days due to morning sickness. I'm thinking I'm going to call back today, because I'm worried that this may have ill side effects for baby. And I really want to be able to enjoy the Christmas celebrations I have coming up this weekend.

Any suggestions to help this from anyone? Should I call dr. back? Should I just try clear liquids for another day? What should I do?!?!

  • I get this a lot while pg, and its mainly cause my uterus is stretching and causing cramping to my bowels. Think abotu before you get your period and how sometimes you get belly issues.

I would try the BRAT diet--banana, rice, applesauce, toast. See how that does. I would think liquids would make you go more, though I know you need to stay hydrated. get some popsicles or something you can eat slowly.

  • I had this problem often in my first pregnancy.  Immodium is safe to take while pregnant.  It was the only way I made it through some days the first time around. Good luck!

  • Yes. That's all I have to say. Becoming a problem when I have to go @ work. UGH
  • I had this issue a few weeks ago.  It was bad and lasted for days.  No matter what I ate, my stomach still was upset.  I contacted my Dr.  and was told immodium is ok to take.  The Immodium helped a lot.

  • Thanks ladies. Good to know I'm not the only one suffering from this. I just called the dr. again and they too said to do the BRAT diet and I could take Imodium. I'm going to be going to get that on my lunch break no doubt about it! Hope it gets better for all you other ladies! I hope this doesn't last long.

  • I know the extremes are not fun - but am kinda jealous of diarrhea. I feel like I have to force myself (and really force it) to pop out a rabbit pellet and if I don't do that at least every day I get hell from my body about it. When I do manage to have something resembling a normal BM I almost cry I'm so happy. Being able to go (even going too much) sounds like such a nice change of pace, and much less painful!

  • I have this problem from time to time too, but I've never thought it was really an issue. GL!
