How long did your DH or SO take off from work to help with the kids?
I am due in June. That is DH busiest time of the year. Both his boss and his boss' boss said that he would only get 3-4days off. We both think that this is totally unfair. He is saving up vacation time for when the twins come and wants to take as much time off as needed. So I guess I am wondering how much time did your DH or SO take off work to help?
Re: Husbands Leave Question.
I had my c-section on a Friday afternoon, so DH was at the hospital with me all weekend. My BF came on Monday while he went to work.
Then because the girls ended up in the NICU (and I was a MESS), he took off Tues-Friday, but it was not planned.
He went back to work the following week while my Mom stayed with us. Then he took the week after that off as planned.
I'm not sure what type of job he has, but if he's got vacation time, and they know he has a baby(s) on the way- that's pretty sh*tty that they're dictating when he can take vaca. I'm assuming it's not a corporate job.
He got 2 weeks (military-paternity leave starts on birthday, no exceptions), but they were in the NICU the whole 2 weeks, so when they came home I was on my own.
My mom promised to come out and help, but she made up some excuse for why she couldn't come-and is STILL making excuses for why she can't visit. I digress.
Its hard, but doable. I hope he gets to use his vacation time so you get some help!
No he is a store manager for a pool supply store. I am really starting to hate his job!

My husband planned to take 3-4 weeks and ended up taking 8 weeks (due to multiple factors...). I give so much credit to those who have to do it on their own after only a few days. I am so grateful MH was able to take such a long leave.
DH's company used to give men 6 weeks paternity leave... but RIGHT before we had the twins they changed it to only 2 weeks and people went apeshit on them- b/c so many people had planned leave, etc.... so the company allowed the men to apply for an extra 2 weeks if they claimed they were "primary caregiver" which IMO is bullshit.... but hell, with 2 babies- he got one as his primary and got the extra 2 weeks... so he was off for 4 weeks total. He could have taken more time with vacation days, etc- but we wanted to save those if he needed to take sick days to care for a sick me, or sick babies, etc.
Our state (NJ) also allows some time off for men now... and men can take unpaid time with many companies, etc.
a few days??? your DH's company sucks balls.
