Late Term and Child Loss

Test results - 12 weeks later

I've been calling my OB's office once or twice a week since the 6 week mark when they said we would get the results from the chromosomal analysis. At 8 weeks out my dr. called and said there had been a mistake and they didn't have enough fetal tissue to do the full test. They would do "part" of the test only. This basically devastated me because I realized that they blew the only shot of testing my baby and I wanted an answer and I don't want 1/2 a test, I want the full test! So I called today to check the results of whatever test they were doing and I was just told that they did the whole test. Normal Male.

My heart is a bit broken again for so many reasons. I hate that I was being jerked around by my Dr's office. I really like them but I I feel like I don't know if I can trust them. I plan on requesting all my records. I just want to get a grasp on the situation because I need things to be organized and in control and this is none of that. And lastly, a small part inside of me wanted to hear that my baby passed away for a reason. That something was wrong and somehow he was spared a miserable life. But that was the last test.... Nothing was wrong with the pregnancy, nothing was wrong with me, nothing was wrong with my son. I just lost him for no apparent reason. Crying Today sucks. Christmas sucks. I want to go to sleep and wake up 6 months ago.

  • ((Hugs)) You might talk to your OB about a referral to a maternal fetal specialist. All of the tests my OB ran showed nothing, but when I went to the MFM she ran a lot more blood work and found that I had recently been exposed to Fifth's Disease/Parvovirus, and that likely caused Faith's death. It's just something to think about. It helps in some ways to get an answer, even if it's just a probable one.

  • I know exactly how you feel. We got our test results back and they revealed Nomal Male too. Nothing wrong with me, nothing wrong with him - then why did this happen? It was like a punch in the gut. It was just as hard - if not harder- than learning we lost him. I hate pretty much everything too. Want to hide under the covers all day everyday.
