Pregnant after a Loss

? for those that temped while TTC

Did you continue to temp after your BFP?

Got a BFP on Sunday, but AF is due tomorrow so I've continued to temp....just to see what my temps would do, I guess.  My temps are still well above the coverline but up & down. Is that normal?

I had my first beta draw on Tuesday so we'll see tomorrow if its doubling the way it's supposed to.

Is it pointless to continue temping?

Re: ? for those that temped while TTC

  • I stopped temping after my BFP.  I think you will drive yourself crazy if you keep temping because I'm pretty sure, once you are pregnant, all bets are off for stable temps.

ETA: Congrats on your BFP!!!  H&H 9 months to you!

  • I did for just a few days. Had a big dip which freaked me out, and the wise ladies of PgAL suggested that I stop. I agreed, and stopped worrying about it. Congratulations on your BFP!

  • Temping caused me too much anxiety.  But really I just traded one vice for another and kept POAS every day and agonized over whether or not the line was getting darker.

  • I did but only until I had my betas drawn to confirm pregnancy (so 13dpo). I stopped after that because I didn't want to drive myself crazy worrying.

  • OK thanks ladies!  I am *officially* putting away my BBT today!  Right after I POAS one *last* time!  LOL!

  • I was wondering this today too, when I put my temp in.  I know it'll just drive me crazy, and I should probably do as you have - put the BBT away.

I will share something I noticed this morning: my pg charts are the ugliest charts I have.  They're all up and down, and this month is especially jagged.  The non-pg charts are the ones that actually look slightly tri-phasic.  Hopefully that's not a doomful sign for this pg, but I thought it was interesting anyway!

  • I temped until I was 12 weeks... It just made me feel better personally.  I didn't freak out if it was lower.  You can look at my chart.  There was a bit of up and down, and the days I didn't record it, I probably thought it was low and didn't want to freak myself out, so I just didn't record it.

    Congrats!!!

  • I stopped the day I got my BFP.  I figured, "what is the point"?  I was pregnant and would just go by the information from the OB from that point on.

  • I temped for about a week after my BFP. DH was actually the one to say, "Honey, you're pg. I think you can stop temping now..." For sanity sake, I listened to him!

  • Congratulations on your BFP!  Wishing you a happy, healthy and uneventful 9 months.

I would definitely put the thermometer down.  Once you are PG, your temps will be all over the place and you will likely just drive yourself crazy.
