Pregnancy sypmtom - commiserate with me?

You know when you are watching a blooper reel and the guy who is skating down the railing inevitably falls and smashes his crotch into the railing? This is how I feel when I am walking or shifting positions while sitting or laying. I do not remember it being this bad with Charlotte. Then occasionally, this pain shoots down my leg and it is like all the strength gets zapped from that leg, almost like when your knee gives.

Does this warrant a call to the dr? My next appt is not until 12/30 and I feel dumb calling, but I need to find out what I can do that will help with this. Any suggestions? Or just suck it up and stop being a whining whiner who whines?

Re: Pregnancy sypmtom - commiserate with me?

  • I had that and it was way worse with DS#2.  I am terrified for #3.  It started earlier in the pregnancy and was much more severe. I could barely get out of bed in the a.m. It was like if I stayed in one position too long my groin could not handle it.  I sympathize with you.  I probably wouldn't call, but that is just me. I tough things out to a fault.

  • I had terrible groin pain and then I had issues with my sciatic nerve, so pain would shoot from my hip down my leg.  It was terrible!  And it was definitely worse with baby #2.

Hopefully you're hanging in there!  I don't know if I had the same pain as you, but I usually just toughed it out :(

  • Ummm this is really TMI and I haven't wanted to post about it but since you brought it up...for like 10 weeks now I have felt like this baby is trying to make her way out. I don't think it's quite the same with what you've got going on but know that I'm commiserating with you.  And it's just gotten worse, like crouching down or even sitting down to pee is no good, I feel like I'm in a birthing position.  I am really swollen and there's a lot of increased blood flow to that area.  When I told DH that, it pretty much sealed the deal for both of us that there is no activity going on. I asked my OB 2 months ago about the pressure and she said that it's because there wasn't a long period of time between pregnancies and my muscles are weaker as a result of delivering Jules.  She told me to work on my kegals, but I'm going to ask her again because the swelling seems kind of extreme.

The pain down the leg sounds a lot like my sciatic nerve, it is really bad after a long night, in the middle of the night when I move quickly or first thing in the morning.  I go to the chiropractor for it.

Sorry, I told you that was TMI Huh?

I am dealing with this as well. I told DH I was pretty sure I couldn't "business" with him even if I wanted to right now. I am very aware of where I tore during C's delivery now, especially if I squat to do something. I was only 7 mos PP when I got pregnant, so I thought a lot of that would be to do with not having a longer gap between pregnancies, but this gimping around feeling like I was kicking in the crotch is no bueno.

  • I feel you- I had terrible pain in "that area" and it started at like 12 weeks...

    I'm sorry- its no fun..

however, it didnt hurt when we did the deed (at least until 20wks)  and an "o" made everything relax...just sayin'

  • I had this terrible pelvic/sciatic pain as well. Talk with your OB about it, and I even recommend seeing a Physical Therapist even - I saw one after O was born, and it helped immensely - I think seeing a PT during pregnancy would have prevented the issue from getting bad after O was born.
  • Definitely sounds like nerve pain for it to be shooting down your leg. I had lots of hip/ lower back pain at the end of second tri but luckily it has gotten better.  I see a chiropractor regularly but upped my visits during that time.

My complaint is also tmi but I feel like I am about to have diarrhea all.the.time. I asked the dr at my last appt bc at first I thought I was having serious stomach issues, but he said that the baby is so low and angled back and my body can't tell the difference from the pressure coming from inside or outside it. It's been 2 weeks already so I hope he rotates soon!

I had this EXACT same thing this time and kept asking about it.They told me it was probably just the position the baby was in. She was frank breech until around 30 wks and it seemed to go away after she turned. Hang in there! Hopefully it will get better! It never hurts to play it safe and call your Dr. too.

Ooooh interesting!  She's definitely been breech up until now, but in the last few days I've felt things up higher so maybe she's turning/turned.  I go in the first week in January and I'll be 30 weeks so we'll see if they think that has to do with it, thanks!
