Follie check on cd 15 this morning showed 0 follicles. This time last month (and the month I got pregnant with my son) I had a follie so she's making me come one more time on Friday and if there's nothing, she's canceling this cycle, giving me Prometrium to bring along a period and we're moving onto IUI and injectibles.
I am so crushed. Times like these I'm feeling like there's no hope of giving my son a sibling. I just don't understand how it was so "easy" conceiving him and so hard to have another. Isn't it supposed to be reversed???
Anyway, can someone explain to me exactly what injectibles consist of? Is it a shot everyday up until we see follies? Do I still take Clomid or Femera? What about a trigger shot? Does it just depend on the woman's history? Again, bare with me, this is all pretty new to me.

I'm sorry, that really does suck. You typically don't take an oral med. Just, typically, 150+ of gonal or follistim (or bravelle or menopur, or a combo) and it's a tiny shot in your belly. Hardly hurts a bit. You do that daily for 5-7 days, then start checking. Often. Typical stim time is 8-11 days????? (total) Perhaps adjust your dose, "coast" a day or two sometimes" and then trigger. IUI typically 36 hrs after. They'll watch your lining, the trigger will stay in your system for about 5-7 days - you can test it out or just wait a bit for a true stick. I was terrified to make that next step, but it ended up being LESS crabbies from the clomid, and well, it just seemed to work better for me.
Keep swimming ;-)
I'm sorry. I totally get you with it being harder the second time around. We've been trying on #2 for 15 months now.
We're moving onto injectables next. From what I understand and have been told, we give ourselves shots every day. Have follie checks every other day. Once they see a mature follie the have you trigger then do IUI.
Take care.
Thanks everyone for your sympathy and help. It's nice to know what I should be expecting.
One more question though...anyone know (ballpark) around how much the injections will cost? Obviously it'll differ with each insurance plan but I was just wanting a guesstimate. I'm trying to prepare myself...
TTC#2=July 2011: Surprise BFP: Chemical Pregnancy
I didn't have any mature follies on my first cycle when TTC#2.... the next cycle I had 2 - and I got the twins from it. I took wheat grass pills that cycle - not sure if they helped, but it can't hurt.
i never did injectables - only clomid/IUI + trigger.
good luck... you'll get there!
I'm so sorry this cycle isn't working out for you. You can use injectibles and still use Clomid or Femara. My last pregnancy is the result of femara plus follistim. We did an IUI where I took very high doses of femara (12.5mg per day cd 3-7) and then I did a shot of 150 of Follistim on cd 8-10. That cycle I had one nice sized follicle and two smaller ones when I did the trigger shot.
I've never done an IUI with only injectibles so I can't help you there.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
I'm so sorry. ((HUGS))
Injects are pretty easy and you should respond better. I only did one cycle which resulted in Katie, but I started the shots on CD3 after a baseline u/s and b/w. I did the shots every day, came in for monitoring to see how the follies were growing and when they (it, actually) were large enough I triggered and went in for the IUI 36 hours later.
A ballpark on stims is about a buck a unit. Cash price thru FF. (like a 450iu pen costs about $400, give or take) I hear you need more bravelle, but it's cheaper. Gonal and Follistim are the same drug, different manufact'r, some prefer the pen (you dial up a dose, no fuss) but some take the savings of the vials. There is extra in both, btw, sometimes as much as 150iu.
Insurance? ask what's covered and your max bens available. If you're paying cash, get yourself on the OOP donation list, you can take a chance and shop Freegaragesale (I've heard some stories of sneaky people that rip you off) or just post on here that you're looking to buy some meds and give your email. Many times people are hesitant to donate, but to recoup a little bit of their expense is welcome. (I would always pay shipping on top of it, which can add up, I would only do overnight, scared the product would get too hot or cold sitting on a plane, tarmack or delivery truck.)
