No, and I'm pretty sure my mom bought all the things you listed before I even had a chance to think about it. Our coming home outfit wasnt anything special, since we did not know if it was going to be boy/girl. It had dogs all over it, and appeared to be 20 times too big since she was little.
I figure I will have plenty of time to buy her all sorts of stuff through out the years.
Does it bother you when people buy other "baby's first" things for you?
For example: Hospital coming home outfit, first Christmas (or Easter, etc) dress, baby book, etc.
Not really cause if it's NMS it won't be their first XYZ outfit. He would just use it for something else. However, if I had a girl I think this could be different cause what other occasion could there be for a big froofy dress in that specific size?
Yeah, in no small part because of the foofy dress thing. My MIL was 'this close' to buying Joaquin a Halloween costume, which is so not going to happen regard, ess of whether it's her first or eighth Halloween.
Part of this is also motivated by MIL and my mom both being a speshul mix of thoughtful and forgetful. Like when we met up in Vancouver in September my mom read Joaquin one of the two books I brought, and then seemed put out when she had to take it back during Christmas shopping because Joaquin already had it. Duh, mom. Or when I talked to Joaquin in the third person about how Santa might bring her some cars for Christmas, and then MIL is all, brb, I bought these for her cousin, but if she likes cars, rips open a package identical to what I'd already gotten her but wss trying to be all circumspect about it.o
My family knows me well enough to know that I am a nut about shopping for the kids. My MIL always gets the onesie/pajama outfits that say "Baby's First Christmas, Easter, 4th of July" etc. That is perfectly fine with me because it's not the outfit they wear that day. It's usually what I put them to bed in.

I'll admit it, it annoys the crap out of me. MIL bought DD a baby book that was nothing like everything else we got for her. Plus the pages just didn't ask the info that I wanted it to. I tried to use it, but ended up buying a new one.
Like broc's mom, I showed my mom a St. Patrick's Day shirt I bought for DD and then she went and bought her a St.P'sDay sleeper. Luckily there was a pooplosion that day so she did get to wear both. Same thing with Halloween. I already bought her a costume and then my SM bought her a sleeper.
I am grateful that people think of her and want to give her things, but I wish they'd give clothes that she can wear for more than one day.
No one gets us squat..so I really don't know. Lol! Sounds like a first world problem to me...I might be happy that I don't need to buy it.. Or if it was lame I would return it and get something good.
I think it would bother me if someone got LO a Halloween costume without checking with me first, but things like 'baby's first holiday' shirts, baby books, and stuff are not a big deal to get from someone else. (That said, I got a baby book for DD as a gift and it is totally blank because it's too open ended for me and I haven't had a clue what to write in it.)
My mom gets a million of the same books and stuff and I just tell her we have it already and don't bring it home.
