Hey Ladies my husband and I have been TTC since Feb 09 and finally went in to get some answers early last Dec you can read my history in my sig. Needless to say weve had two losses two cycles in a row in less than 5 months and finally I begged my RE for genetic Testing everything can back normal except for my MTHFR I am Homozygous for the A1298C mutation...My biggest problem right now is I do love my RE but I can't deal with any more losses! He told me just to take some extra Folic Acid to help the mutation! I have a friend whom has the same mutation but lives in GA and she is on Folgard and Baby Asprin until +test then she will start lovenox...from all my research I seem to find that the Associations do not like this way of handling this problem...but all the sucess stories I've heard have included the lovenox even if the homosystiene levels are not elevated....mine are 10. I finally talked my RE into letting me take Folgard but he would only prescribe 1 pill daily which is only 2.2mg folic acid and everything I have read says that if you are homozygous for either the C677T Mutation or the A1298C mutation that you should be on 4mg of folic acid daily...so I have been taking the Folic Acid and B6 and B12 in the amounts that would be in the Folgard just over the counter! and he told me if it would make me feel more comfortable that I could start baby asprin but he will not be prescribing the Lovenox...He wants me see how this works...and if it doesn't then we may try Lovenox. I don't feel comfortable "Seeing how this works" meaning leaving it up in the air that I can miscarry again and then treating it differently if that happens. So my RE said I could get a second opinion from a MFM if I wouls like and I have decided to next week....he is at the same university that my RE is at but he seems to be a little more aggressive in these situations. I guess what I am wanting to know is what your alls opinion is on this and if anyone else has homo MTHFR A1298C That has had a sucessful pregnancy and what your protocl is...If the Lovenox can't hurt but might help then just put me on it! I just dont want to feel like I'm crazy about being so demanding about the Lovenox! HELP

Re: homo MTHFR Mutation and TTCA2L...HELP!
I'm sorry, who are you?
In an effort to be helpful despite my bitterness, I have two pieces of advice:
1. Get a second opinion from a non-affiliated RE.
2. Introduce yourself on TTCAL, where there is a large group of very supporting women, as long as you offer support yourself.
P.S. That long repetitive paragraph made my head hurt. Oops, back to being bitter.
I do have to agree with Mork, your post was quite difficult to read. Many women have often missed the 'board description' before posting here.
This board is not for women who have just been TTCAL 6+ months... it's women who have been TTCAL 6+ AND have been active on TTCAL for quite some time. For example, I began posting on TTCAL in January 2011 and I believe I intro'd here in August or September (8-9 months after being an active poster on TTCAL).
There are also more ladies on TTCAL and you will likely have a larger group of people to poll on that board about your specific situation, some of which I have seen post about similar experiences. Good luck to you.
My protocol is all of the above (daily 4mg folic acid, baby aspirin, lovenox after BFP). Lovenox is still a blood thinner and I've been told by other doctors and fertility researcher friends that that is aggressive. But my OB feels strongly that a prophylactic dose (40mg) will not be harmful. I'll still be a high risk pregnancy though, with or without it. Lovenox will create other issues w the pregnancy so some OBs might not be willing to take those risks if not necessary.

I really am sorry! I didn't mean I read all the posts on the TTCAL board and dont help I meant I have been on the TTCAL board before just recently and I have read every book i can get my hands on looking for helpon all my different diagnoses and thought this was the next place to turn because I had a friend that said she had used the board and it was helpful for her. I don't know the protocol of how the boards work Iv'e never really done them before. I just thought I was supposed to post my problems and see if others had the same. I joined the knot when I was getting married but had never explored into the message boards much until now thats why my joined date is so early. Again Sorry and I do want to help others on things that I can Im not just here to demand help. GL to you ladies and I pray you all will get take home babies soon!
