how long did you or will you breast feed?

just curious

I want to breast feed till age two if possible... maybe after age one just pump and give to the child in a sippy cup. I thought it was funny how many odd looks I got when I said that... oh well thats what I want for my baby and I hope that it works out. What about all of you?

At least to one. After that, I'd like to stop pumping. Are you sure you want to pump and give a sippy cup for a year? I can't wait to stop using my pump!

After she is 1, I will let her wean when she is ready. We plan on having another and I'd like to not be BFing or PG for a few months anyway.

I would love to give her the opportunity to wean herself so at least until age two but I am prepared to go longer. H and I want to add another child to our family soon though so I am unsure if she will continue to nurse through the entire pregnancy. Breastfeeding is definitely becoming easier and more flexible as she grows older! I love nursing her!

Baby steps for me...I'm hoping 6 months for now and if baby and I are happy then a year. But then I'm done after that until my next baby.

I plan to breastfeed for a year and then partially wean - I'll just stop pumping at work. We plan to start trying for #2 when she turn one as well. I'll see if DD weans herself when I get pregnant or see how I feel about continuing through pregnancy.

I stopped pumping after 14 months and now just BF mornings, evenings, and weekends. DS drinks WCM from a sippy cup.

I'm planning on going as long as DS wants and he doesn't show any signs of wanting to stop.

Although we are planning to TTC #2 December 2012 and AF hasn't come back yet, so I may have to think about weaning around that time. But we'll see.

I hope to continue as long as she wants. I do not want to use formula and DD is extremely allergic to all dairy. Pumping suuuuuucks and I would like to stop that at some point, though. It also depends on if we decide to try for another kid. We will most likely have to do ivf again and you cannot be BF at all when you do that.

Meh. I don't plan on stopping any time soon. We are talking about TTC in the fall, so we'll see what happens when/if I get PG. I would love to tandem nurse.

I plan on BFing for the first year exclusively. Then after that, I guess I will play it by ear. I may still want to, or I may decide that it is time for her to start drinking regular milk. I just am not sure yet. But, I have been at it for almost 7 months now, so I think that is pretty good!

I plan on letting him wean himself, which from what I hear can happen anytime after the age of two. If I get PG before he weans, I would gladly tandem nurse if he still wants it.

His dad keeps dropping hints that I should start weaning him myself. To that I have said "this topic is not open for discussion."

Whenever she's done. My mom BF all 3 of my sisters and I and she said we all weaned on our own around 16-18 months. I'd love to BF til DD is 2, but DH and I would also like to TTC sometime in late 2012 so I'm not exactly sure how that would work out. I'd love to be able to nurse through my pregnancy and tandem nurse with kiddo #2.

My first child I exclussively BF for 1 year day after 1st b-day done

my 2nd I exclussively Bf for 7 months as I needed radiactive therapy (thyroid)

my third I did bottle (forumlat) and Breast milk for 9 months

this one - (im pregnant) probably will do exclussive Breast milk until 1 year minimum.

DS1 nursed until 16 months when he self-weaned. I was hoping to go 18 months or so.

I'll let DS2 self-wean as well... we'll see. It's only been 10 weeks so far!

I'm planning to BF exclusively until 1 year. At 1 year, I will stop pumping at work and transition DS to WCM while in daycare. At home, I will continue nursing as long as DS wants to.

I hope we can continue nursing well past one year. My little boy is just a few months away from turning one and I'm not near ready to quit yet! I savor the snuggles now that he's so excited about crawling and cruising!

We're still nursing at 20 months. My original goal was 2 years but now I'm considering letting him self wean when he's ready. This means I will probably be tandem nursing since I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant and he still really enjoys nursing.

DD1- 24mo, self weaned the week of her 2nd b-day

DD2- 4.5 weeks so far, will go until either I deploy or she weans herself.

My goal was 6 mos, but I'm not enjoying it and I don't think DD cares either way. I supplement w/ formula and some days EP and give her a bottle. She seems to just go with the flow....

I plan on doing what I did with my first daughter. I breastfed exclusively for one year- first 6 months I was home and next 6 months my husband was. While my husband was home I pumped and brought it home. I breastfed directly on evenings, nights, weekends.

When she turned 1 I stopped pumping but was still breastfeeding part time at home. I did this until she self weaned, at 16 or so months.

I got pregnant 1 week later!

So we're on track for doing the same thing for this one.
