Am I missing something on this toy? I opened it yesterday to set it up for my son and boy and I bummed. It just seems so slow. And the apps seem kinda lame. I can't return it since I opened it, so I am stuck. I've seen people say that is totally takes their kids focus off iphones and such, but I cant see that being the case from what little experience I have had with it. So...
What apps did you buy that are actually worth the money and make this toy cool and fun? ? Ideally I'd only like to spend an extra $20-30 in apps right now.
PLEASE tell me your 3 year old totally loves it and I am way overthinking that I just threw away over $100 and should have gotten a Kindle Fire but talked myself out of it bc that seemed frivolous for a 3 year old.

I purchased from etoys.com and they are saying I cannot return it. I am waiting for a manager to call me back. The packaging is such that there is no way to open it with out it looking like it was opened. Probably for this very reason. Crap.
Please someone tell me their kids LOVE it.
On CL, no one will care that it is open as it is gone everywhere. He may just need time to grow into it too.

I just posted it to CL. Thanks for the idea!
I can't see him growing into in. Overall it just seems like such a boring toy for all the hype.

We bought ours as well back in August when they first came out. My 3.5 y/o daughter loves it. She is constantly playing the pet game it came with and I had bought the Tangled cartridge. I also bought a $20 app center code - but haven't seen anything that wows me just yet to use it.
I also didn't seem to think there were any issues as far as it being slow. Sometimes it does take a bit to upload and sync it to my computer - but other than that, I've never seen her lose interest because it took long for her game to load.
DD1 LOVES hers and played with it almost a whole 4 hour flight. What a lifesaver that was!
That said, I don't see it being a favorite for much longer...I think she'll have outgrown it by this time next year. I bought 2 (1 for DD2 as well) and I kinda wish I had only gotten one, or 2 kindle fires. DD2 has no interest in it yet; it's too complicated for her I guess.

I'm late jumping in but our 3 year old loves the leappad, so much so she woke up early the day after christmas just so she could play it more. I couldnt believe how much she has been enjoying it.
Her favorite thing currently is to feed/bath/dry the dog. That and the paint feature. I think the lap runs pretty quicly for what it is,
