1) I have no oil. It is a holiday celebrating oil and all the traditional foods use oil. (And we also barely have any other food in the house.)
2) We only got 6 lame-o gifts for DD. (There are 8 days.) Only 4 of them are wrapped.
3) I got nothing at all for DH even though he went beyond dropping hints to just leaving websites open on the computer so that I just had to click 'add to cart'.
4) My family does a grab bag (secret santa kind of thing) each year. DH and I got my dad and my bro's girlfriend. We have sucky place-holding gifts and need to get real gifts.
5) The menorah needs to be polished.
6) I thought I had Hanukah decorations but they were either lost or used or given away and I don't have anything - and we are hosting the family party on Sat night. (And I have no clue what we're eating.)
7) We haven't set up an area where we will light the candles.
8) It just doesn't feel like it's time for holidays because this is the first year that I don't have an end of semester so I have no concept of time of year.
I should stop bumping and start doing something since DD is at grandma's for another hour.
Re: 8 ways I am not ready for Hanukah
Thanks ladies!
So we went grocery shopping tonight and have some basics - at least we have oil now! We're sticking with 6 gifts for LO 'cause she got 1 gift from her cousin tonight and she'll get other family ones on Sat night. She doesn't know the difference anyway. Also, she doesn't need to be totally materialistic. (We got her 5 books and a stacking cups bath toy. We are so lame.)
The other gifts are still stressing me out but I'm going shopping with my mom and my 30% off coupon at Kohl's tomorrow so that should help!
Happy Hanukah!
This!
Hopefully everything comes together for you!
Also I think you should take a few opportunities this week to teach about Hanukah. As in your specific family traditions during the holiday. I would love to learn more
