Rob and I are going away for the first time without Charlie, yay! We're staying at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and would love to have dinner somewhere within walking distance, but it doesn't have to be. I'd like it to be a romantic/special occassion type of place. Thanks!

Re: Your favorite Monterey restaurant
The Duck Club in the Monterey Plaza is delicious.
I've also always wanted to try the Chart House next door.
We were really disappointed with The Fish Hopper. =(
I've eaten at a few different places on the Wharf (a quick drive or long walk...more near the Portola). They were good, not amazing, but good, solid.
Downtown has some yummy places too, but if you are staying at the Plaza I would try either the Duck Club or the Chart House. HAVE FUN!!!!
We really like Passion Fish too (it's in Pacific Grove).
I actually read on their website that the duck club is closed. I was surprised to see that.
Herny's for bar b q
Crystal FIsh for Sushi
The fisherman's grotto for Clam CHowder
I actually really like the resterant in the aquariam and both resterants in the Plaza. Enjoy the hot tub!
The Chart House is AMAZING and certainly within walking distance from the Plaza. DH and I went there for my birthday and the views are to die for...very romantic.
The Fish House has food that is seriously to.die.for but it's definitely not romantic by any means. It's very small and loud and it's always suuuuuper packed.
I'd go for The Chart House for you special dinner and The Fish House for another night!
We loved the Fish Hopper, but it's not intimate.
Isabella's in Old Fishermans Wharf is really good, and has the atmosphere I think you're looking for. AWESOME chowder.
We went to Mission Ranch, but actually liked the food at Fish Hopper better. The food wasn't bad, really good actually, but we were more impressed with our dinner the night before at Fish Hopper. We dressed up, but everyone else seemed to be more business casual.
We enjoyed our time at BJ's Brew Pub, but it's not intimate either. Definately a pub, but good appitizers and a great bar tender. Her name escapes me at the moment, but I know her daughters name is Audrey. If I remember her name, I'll post again.
Triple that! DH and I went to Passionfish in August on our Pacific Coast Highway trip. Everything was fabulous, and we'd highly recommend it!
