When did you transition LO from bassinet to crib?

DS is 8 wks, 23.5 inches and already getting close to outgrowing the bassinet. we're going to see how much longer he fits and might try the pack & play in our room next but wondering how long you kept LO with you in yout room?  I also go back to work in 2 weeks so that is another factor (sleep needs)...

Re: When did you transition LO from bassinet to crib?

  • We moved my LO at 2 weeks. Those were miserable two weeken because he hated the RnP and I ended up sleeping with him on my chest (which meant I got no sleep). LO loves his crib and it has been so much easier for me.

I know several people want to have their LO in their room as long as possible so it's entirely what works best for your family.

  • At 5.5 weeks. Once he started sleeping longer streches I put him in his own room. He actually started sleeping so much better without us in the room. We probably woke him up too! It is really nice to not have to worry about waking him up.

  • My DS is still in his bassinet at about 11 weeks (he's 24 in).  He will outgrow it soon so I think we'll move him to his crib at the end of the month.  I will miss having him in our room!

  • DD is in a Travel Lite Crib (mini PnP) and the weight limit for the bassinet portion is 15 lbs.  DD#1 was able to stay in it in our room for 6 months.  I was planning to do 6 months with DD#2, but she is a big girl (almost 12 lbs at 6 weeks).  I am hoping to make it to 4 months at least.

  • We moved him at five weeks from bassinet to his crib/room. I was pleasantly surprised that he kept the same routine and sleep pattern. It didn't faze him. Good luck! I'm sure it will be better than you think.
