Video Monitor? Do u have 1?

I have heard from two friends now that have baby monitors that are the video ones - I thought before it wasn't necessary, but now I'm thinking I'd like to splurge on that.  Thoughts?

Re: Video Monitor? Do u have 1?

  • My friends who have them have no regrets.   So we are getting ours in the next 10 days.

  • I have one, and it was totally neat at first, until I started picking up someone else's child. It's too creepy, and I don't know who it is. Now their signal messes up both of our frequencies.

  • I don't have one. I occasionally wish I did but not enough to go buy one.

I also think it might have caused unhealthy obsession especially early on- you need to be able to get something done and/or sleep when dc sleeps and I feel like I might just end up staring at the monitor!

  • I love it.  Didn't want any other kind.

  • I have one and love it.  SIL had one and after being around them and theirs I couldn't imagine not having one.  DS is loud when he is falling asleep or waking up. It is definitely nice to be able to SEE if he is actually awake.

I definitely don't think it is a NECESITY, but it is really nice to have.

  • For those of you who did - can your recommend yours?  We're starting our registry & I'm looking for hints :)
  • Love mine. Especially when I can decide whether I need to go into her room and risk waking her up or just look at the monitor and see that she is still sleeping! (She's a noisy sleeper). I don't stare at it all of the time either and I can be pretty obsessed about her:)
  • summer day and night video monitor. about $100 and works VERY well (black and white though, but i LOVE it).
  • We have the Summer Infant handheld video monitor and I love it. I did get someone else's child on one of the channels the first time I turned it on, but I just switched channels and it was fine. I could care less if one of our neighbors can see DD asleep in her crib. I like it because I can see if she is actually awake or just making noises. She's also an escape artist with her swaddle, so it's nice to be able to check periodically and make sure she's not smothering herself in her blanket.
  • I have the summer also.  It is the one with the bigger screne, I think it was around $180/$200ish.  It was a gift.  SIL has the same one and hasn't had any problems with it and nephew is 18mos old now.
  • i wish we had one

  • I have the Summer handheld and honestly could not live without it.  I can't tell you how many times that monitor has saved me from running in there at every little peep DD makes.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE it and am considering a second one so I have one for each DD.  Even with DD1 sleeping 12 hours at night I still need to be able to "see" her.  We had 2 non video monitors and decided that it was worth the extra money.

  • BRU has 15% coupons out. I'll use it to buy the monitor

  • we use a network webcam and I love it! I can check on him whenever. He is a belly sleeper so it makes me feel more secure
