My first labor and delivery was horrendous and I had to have several surgeries afterward to fix all of the complications. I was in excruciating pain for at least 5-6 months. This time I had a scheduled C-Section and it was amazing! It hasn't even been 24 hours and while I am sore when I walk around, I'm alert, not in any pain, calm, and the whole experience has been so different than the first. I can actually enjoy my baby!
The only part that was hard for me was that when they gave me the spinal, my blood pressure dropped and I got sick. Other than that, it was great. No pain, just some tugging and pressure during the surgery, I got to breastfeed my baby within an hour of being born and that's going awesome, baby and DH stayed with me the whole time, just a great experience. The nurses were amazed at how much research I had done because of this board, I guess not a lot of people do! My baby is perfect, got all 9s on his APGARs, and I couldn't be more happy with the surgery. I don't advocate for elective C-Sections, but for those that are going to have one for medical reasons, I hope my story is encouraging for you!
Re: Had my C-Section yesterday - great experience!
First, congratulations on your baby!
Second, thank you for sharing such a positive experience. I'm scheduled for a c/s on Jan 4th and ever since I found out, have been lurking here to mentally prepare for what's in store. Mine isn't elective - he's breech and has been since 29 weeks so we're assuming he isn't going to flip (which of course can still happen).
I hope I can duplicate your experience exactly!
Best wishes for you and your family.
Congratulations!!! I'm glad that you had a positive experience and I'm glad that you shared it here.
I also just had a c-section (induced due to "highish" BP...then...failure to progress) and it was a great experience...very similar to yours. I agree that we need more positive c-section stories out there...it may not be what everyone thinks of when they think of delivering a baby, but sometimes it's just safest and healthiest for mom and baby. The end result is the same and that's all that matters!
Congrats! SO great to hear a positive story!
I had a c-section 2 months ago and it was a repeat- went really well as well. It was "elective" even though I didn't have a choice- I had GD with insulin dependance and was getting to the point where my placenta was at risk.
Having it be planned made me feel like I was bringing my car to the garage. Or taking an early flight. Show up 2 hours early, prep, then showtime! Recovery was so much easier than with an emergency c-section!
This makes me feel better about having my c-section. My LO is breech and no one is my family has ever had a c-section so I have no sounding board.
Glad all went well!
