LO has reflux and eczema. His reflux has improved over time and with use of Zantac. I have been dairy and soy free for about a month. He's always been gassy and fussy and neither that nor the eczema has changed during the course of the elimination. At a pedi appointment last week, she suggested I do a "test dose" of dairy to see if LO reacts. Her advice was literally "go have a cheeseburger and see what happens". This seemed a bit extreme to me. Has anyone tested dairy or any other allergen after a period of elimination and if so how did you go about it? I would think smaller amounts vs a cheeseburger would make sense. How soon in your experience might I see something show up in LO if we try this? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Re: "Test dose" of dairy?
Honestly my LO's nutritionist, GI, and pedi said basically the same thing. So far I've tried 3 different dairy tests in the last 6 months and all three failed. The most recent (last week), it took several days of small doses of dairy to see that it was still irritating my DD. The first two times, the reactions were obvious in the first 24 hours.
The only way to know what will happen is to try. I say go pick the dairy you've missed the most, have a small to normal serving and see how it goes.

Right or wrong, I tested DD at 8 months with a spoon full of milk. She had her standard reaction within a couple of hours. When we did small doses to test (puffs with cheese powder) it took 2-3 days to see the reaction.
