Multiples

Intro and due date question

I have never posted on this board so I should start by saying Hello!

I came from the TTCAL/IF boards and I just found out that I am pregnant with twins from IVF.  I used the IVF due date online calculator when I found out I was pregnant and my due date was 8/3 (same as what my RE said).  My question is, now that I am having twins, the due date calendar bumps my EDD to 7/12.  Do you guys all use the original EDD you were given or have you been given a new EDD based on the fact that you are having multiples?

Sorry if this is a really dumb question!  I'm a rookie.  I know I can ask my RE but I won't see him for another week and a half.

Re: Intro and due date question

  • Welcome and congrats!!!

My OB/MFM, etc all only ever used the original 40w due date.  When people would ask when I was due, I'd say something like "I'm due April 18, but they say to expect twins a couple weeks early."  They were right, mine came @ 36w :)

  • Congrats!

Like the pp said, all of my doctors refer to my "official" EDD (which is 3/2) but they also gave me a "good to go date" (2/10). The first is what my 40 week EDD would be and the second is my 37 week, full term for twins, date. I'm assuming that's what the difference between yours are as well?

  • That might be "your twin date" haha. My due date is April 4 but my twin date is March 13. Go with what your RE said to keep track of your weeks correctly <:

  • Welcome and congratulations!! Best wishes for a healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy. :)

My OB and MFM use the original 40w due date, but I know they won't allow me to go past 38w so when people ask I use the 38w EDD as my answer and then add on "we hope to make it that far!"

  • My OB sticks with my 40 week due date. He does this because the hospital I work at and hope to deliver at is really specific about only delivering 34w+.  So I would hope for 40w

  • 38 weeks is full term for twins.  If you haven't gone by then, the doctor with induce or do a section.  My original due date for Hudson and Landry was Sept. 5 but, they arrived on August 3.  Congrats and welcome!!!

  • My doctors go by the 40 week due date. For work and other purposes I refer to my 37 week date because they told me not to expect to go past that.

  • well my 40w dd is May.18 but my OB isn't letting me go past 38 weeks so that puts me at May.4. When people ask about my due date i tell them I'm due May.18 but because i'm having twins they'll be here the end of April.. you never really know with twins :) Congrats! and Welcome!
  • Like all the other ladies, my MFM and OB both go by my 40 wk edd.  So I am due March 11th. But the goal is to make it to 37/38 wks, so when people ask I tell them some time after President's Day (Feb 20th and my 37 wk mark).

Congrats on your pg! I wish you an uncomplicated and healthy twins pg!!
