Anyone else feel weird...

Not drinking at the holiday parties this year?  I don't get sloppy drunk but I'm used to having a drink in hand at parties.  It's going to be really weird on New Years Eve.

    it will definately be weird! That's also how I can stand dh's family. It's very odd being the only sober one.

    Audrey is going to be a big sister!

    It was weird not drinking for New Year's Eve the first time I was pregnant, I guess now I'm used to it. Sparkling juice (esp. Welch's) tastes similar to Champagne so that's what I'm drinking this New  Years. Smile

    It's going to be weird for me too. We're going to my parents house for xmas and taking the entire next week off and I gurantee there will be drinks every night we are there.  Not drunk but just a glass or two.  It will be hard but so worth it once June comes.

    I will feel a little weird on new years eve since it is my Birthday and DH always is my DD.  I guess he gets lucky and actually get to drink and I will be his DD!

    I might be the odd one out, but I didn't find it weird or odd at all. It's just something you don't do. No biggy really.  I actually enjoyed it last time around.

     You're pregnant, you just don't drink...just as you wouldn't if you were the designated driver.

    Nope. Esp because people know that we're expecting, nobody will be asking me if I want a drink, and I don't have to pretend to be drinking when I'm not.

    Yeah, we announced on Thursday so at least I don't have to worry about covering it up.

    Oh my gosh this!!! I love my in-laws, but there are a lot of them and it took everything in my power to not lose it on Thanksgiving. Drinking a few glasses of wine was the only way I made it through family holidays.

    I will be working for New Year's so that's not a big deal but we'll be getting together with a group of our college friends in February (of course, I was a big drinker back then) and it will be in our college town.  To go back to our old haunts and not drinking will be a tough one for me with that group.  Really, I basically quit drinking several years ago when I started taking flying lessons and haven't missed it because DH is not really a drinker.  But in the right crowd I would definitely feel the need to live it up like the old days. 

    Geez, I make myself sound so old....

    I know exactly what you mean. I'm not a heavy drinker, but I'll almost always have a few drinks at a party or wedding. During the last wedding I went to, I ordered cranberry juice and club soda in between glasses of water. If I didn't think about it too hard, I could *almost* convince myself I was drinking a cocktail. (Plus, we hadn't announced my pregnancy yet, so it was a simple way to appear to be drinking when I actually wasn't.)

    The only thing that is weird/semi-uncomfortable is being the only sober one in a room full of people who are drinking. You don't realize how annoying drunk people are until you're the one not drinking.
