I failed the 1 hr glucose... :(

in 3rd Trimester
Just worried about it. My level was a 179, they said 140 was the norm. Gotta go in for the 3 hour next week. Anyone else fail the 1st one and do ok on the second? Sister in law says 90% of people pass the 2nd one... not sure! Thanks in advance.. oh and this is my first official day in 3rd tri! :) I'm 28 weeks (ticker's off!)

    yes, there have been women who pass the 3 hour after failing the 1 hour. ?i wish you the best next week. ?if you don't get the news you are hoping for, many women have GD on this board and have been great in offering support.

    I can't help ya- I failed both! Got a 181 on the 1 hour...

    But most people really DO pass the 3 hour! Just wanted to say good luck!

    I failed the one hour too, but I passed the 3 hour. Just a little advice: Try to go take it as early in the morning as possible. The longer you wait the worse you end up feeling.

    I also failed the 1 hr and passed the 3 hr - and I second Cajun's comment about doing it as early in the morning as possible. The stuff you drink is not exactly easy on the tummy either. And bring something to keep you busy too.

    Me!! I failed the one hour with a 148, and passed the 3 hour, they didn't giveme numbers on that one.

    i really bombed my one hour and then totally passed the 3 hour, so it might just have been what you were eating the day that you took the test the first time (that's what my dr told me anyways...)

    Same as the others here. I failed the 1 hour and passed the 3 hour. I second (or third maybe?) the whole it could have been what you ate the day of your first test. I just hope your nurses for your 3-hour are better than mine! They take 4 vials of blood grand total in that 3 hour span. My nurses were obviously terrible at taking vials, my test was a full week ago and I still have serious looking blue bruises on the insides of my elbows!

    Failed and passed.... Bring a magazine and stay away from the cafeteria.... It sure smelled good while I was waiting those 3 miserable hours.

    I, too, failed the 1 hr but passed the 3 hr.

    My best recommendation for anyone going in for the 3 hr glucose test is to take some bread with you to eat after the test! ??

    By the time I got home I was feeling a bit weak and queasy until I had something to settle my stomach after the fasting and the sugar. ?I wish I had thought to take some bread with me.
