O is busting out of the miracle blanket and waking himself up and its killing me. He was up at 2, 3:30, 4, 5 and 6 last night. I think he really wants to put his hand in his mouth for soothing and so he pulls and pulls and pulls until its loose, but he isn't coordinated enough yet and it just flails around and wakes him up. He won't go to sleep without being swaddled (tried the one arm out trick, no go). He is a big boy (was 15 pounds at 10 weeks, so probably 16-17 pounds now) and the MB won't wrap all the way around twice now to keep his arms down. Are there any other alternatives that will keep both arms in on a bigger baby? Do I just need to make my own bigger version?
Re: Swaddle help
escape proof swaddle!
there are videos on you tube, but it's basically an a+a blanket and a receiving blanket. you use the receiving blanket to hold the arms down (like the inside part of the MB) and then you do a traditional swaddle with the a+a blanket to keep it all nice and tight.
we had to do that with DD1. Currently we add an aden and anais swaddling blanket on top of the miracle blanket for stability, otherwise she out of the miracle blanket in an hour
At that point with DS, we were doing the escape-proof swaddle first, and then doing the MB around that.
He still broke out, but it took him longer to do it.
Exactly this. We swaddled DD for a looooong time, 15 months if I remember correctly. If done right the escape proof swaddle is bulletproof.
I've been really curious about the Woombie too (and will defintely get one if we have another baby at some point) and they have sizes up to 25 pounds. I think the Ergo Cocoon is basically the same thing.
