Baby Names

twin names

Hey everyone, I don't really post here but I am a huge lurker, we are due with twins in early Jan. and I am second guessing our names. My FI is 100% Italian and has have a very Italian last name, so we want the kids to have Italian names. We are having boy/girl twins. Right now the names we have picked our

Enzo (boy) and Aria (girl)....I love both names, are they too matchy though? Maybe I just think that because they are both four letters. Other names we have though of are

boys - Luca, and Niko...those are the only other two Italian boy names I like. Luca is too common and my FI said if we name him Niko people will call him Nick, I don't think they will but that was made me double guess it.

girls - Sienna, Arianna, Abrielle....Arianna is too common, I do like Sienna and I love Abrielle but FI sisters has kids names Isabella and Gabriel is that too close?

Or any other suggestions would be great! I don't want any name in the top 100. but nothings too out there either. Thanks!!

Re: twin names

  • I love Aria! We're using it- well a variant that appears in the Game of Thrones series (Arya).

They're not matchy names at all but I really love love Luca over Enzo. Luca is such a cute name!

  • I prefer Lorenzo to Enzo any day, but Enzo is fine.

The town in Italy is Siena, not Sienna.  And I'm not sure how Abrielle is Italian...I'm not even sure it's a real name.  I'd go with Gabriella.

  • I would prefer Lorenzo (nn Enzo).  I don't think they are too similar.  I also like Luca and Nico.  I don't love the girl names.

Abrielle is a real name, look it up. I know how to spell the town siena but l like the spelling sienna better. gabriella is way too popular for me and also want people to call her gabby, bell or bella.

  • I also like PP suggestion Lorenzo nn Enzo.  Not really a fan of your girls names.  I LOVE Giada for a girl.  I also really like Contessa and Viviana.

  • There is a little Enzo in DH's side of the family. We also have a very Italian last name. I like it personally but agree that Lorenzo with the nn Enzo is better.

I like Aria as well. I don't think they are too matchy.

  • And FWIW, if you named him Niko I doubt he would be called Nick. I went to high school with a set of Italian twins-Gino and Santino and their cousin Niko. Nobody ever even thought to call Niko but anything other than Niko.

I love Enzo and Aria.  I think they go together well and  wouldn't think they are matchy-matchy.  I actually like those choices the best out of all the options you wrote up there!

    This!

I also like Luca and Abrielle...but I think I like Enzo and Aria just a bit more.

  • I like Enzo and Aria.  Even though they both have 4 letters and begin and end with vowels I wouldn't consider them matchy. They share none of the same letters.

I like Enzo and Niko.  I think Lucia is an adorable Italian name.

ETA: After reading all the responses I'd like to change my vote to Lorenzo nn Enzo and Arianna nn Aria.  I'm a sucker for long names!  :)

  • I LOVE Enzo and Aria (although I prefer Lorenzo nn Enzo, so dashing!). I don't find them matchy at all.

I actually think Luca and Nico are too matchy with the matching cadence and second c sound. My b/b vote would be Enzo and Luca.

For g/g, my vote is Aria and Sienna (although I really like Lucia or Giada for the second girl, if you'd consider either of those).
