Pregnant after IF

I am worried

For a few weeks my morning sickness had been what I would consider run-of-the-mill morning sickness - I would throw up 1-3 times a day, usually in the morning, feel pretty miserable in the morning, and then once the afternoon came around, just feel queasy for the rest of the day. Yesterday started off similar to most mornings, with throwing up as soon as I got out of bed, but then things got much worse. I vomited 10-11 times, couldn't get out of bed, and couldn't keep anything down, food or fluids. DH gave me 2 bags of IV fluids and Zofran when he came home (he's a doctor). I continued to feel really crappy and even vomited the Zofran while I was getting fluids.

Anyhow, this morning I woke up and I am totally fine. I had a popsicle and some saltines to start the day and feel much, much better than I have in weeks. I don't know, I just feel so much better now, I can't help but worry that I lost the babies and that also maybe my sickness yesterday wasn't morning sickness but actually food poisoning or a virus? Anyone experience something similar? Any thoughts? My next ultrasound is in less than a week, so I feel like I should just try to chill out until then, but I can't help but worry. I think I am also paranoid because when I had my missed miscarriage, I had one day of extreme flu-like symptoms about a week before we found out we lost the baby.

Re: I am worried

  • Sweetie, I don't have the answers, but I do know this: the best thing you can do at this moment is think POSITIVELY... not saying that to be trite - just to say that since you don't know anything at this stage, it does no good to speculate and you must be good to yourself.  Call the RE if it sets your mind at ease.  Just take a deep breath and don't use up that energy your body needs on stress and worry. Sending support vibes!!

  • It's definitely harder before you feel them! Just know that every pregnancy is different. Definitely call your RE if it is overwhelming to you!! They may be able to move up the U/S a few days!! Hugs!! Also, sometimes M/S comes and goes. I had a time for around 3 days in my 8-9 week that it completely disappeared; it came back horribly at 9 weeks though!. Maybe someone up there is giving you a day or two off after that horrible day you had!!

  • well i dont know about you but after having carrot juice injected into my veins i feel pretty damn good too! ; )

....im sure it will be back after the IV high wears off.

  • I don't really have much advice. I am also newly pregnant with twins and have my m/s has been fluctuating a little bit lately. I would call the RE and explain your concerns. I bet they would be able to get you in early to help ease your mind.

  • Me too!  I felt the worst yesterday than I have this entire pregnancy, but totally I feel totally fine.  It makes me so nervous!  But my u/s is tomorrow so all I can do is wait.  I'm sure you're feeling so much better today because of the extra fluids, and that everything is fine.  But call your RE if it will ease your mind.

  • as someone who still suffers from m/s I can tell you that it does come and go.  But it is possible like you said that you had some sort of bug as well.  It is not worth the stress of worrying too much and if you are really scared call your RE.  I think they are used to women freaking out about stuff.  hang in there.

  • I'm sorry you are worried.  I don't have much advice because I have not had any m/s but I do hear that it comes and goes.  Or it could have just been a 24 hour flu that made you feel worse.  I understand your worry but everything is probably just fine.  I would call your doctor for some reassurance.

  • Maybe they can get you in for an early ultrasound. I hope everything goes ok. I haven't had much morning sickness, but I know that I definitely feel better mentally if I feel worse physically.

  • Mine is similar.  I was in the hospital, unable to keep anything down, and the Zofran was FRUIT FLAVORED!  I threw up again before the tablet even dissolved.  Then the next morning, I felt great.  I ate two hot dogs that night, then regretted it the next day.  I have a couple really awful weeks, then have half a day or if I'm lucky, a full day, where I feel alright and it reminds me that I won't always feel like this.
    Twin boys due 7/25/12
