Thought the boy might like to see a little of "Polar Express" tonight. He was intently watching it and seemed to enjoy it. But then all of a sudden he started to cry and shake and freak out. He was very upset that the little girl had lost her train ticket and the boy was trying to return it to her and it was kinda scary.
Had to turn it off and spent an hour reading nice, happy stories to him.
Guess he's really starting to comprehend what he's seeing.
Re: Polar Express made C cry
We've been reading the book almost daily and today did the train ride, but DD still doesn't watch much tv and I remember the movie being a bit creepy...I'm there for him!
I recall that C is also a train nut, as is my DS. Polar Express is way different than Thomas videos, which are short and sweet. But DS laughed at one of the "older themed jokes" on Sesame Street this week, so I am there for you, too.
Does your PBS station pick up Tracks Ahead? It's a show about different trains and musuems around the US. DS loves it, and it on @ 6 PM, so I can plan on making a nice dinner those nights.

yeah, I'm beginning to realize just how sensitive he is...
We picked up a couple of old-school Thomas books at the library.. the ones with "Fat Controller" rather than "Sir Topham Hatt." They're a bit darker than the newer, more PC ones.
He was kind of upset by some of these, too. Lots of "Oh No!!" and "Uh Oh!"
Oh.. and haven't seen Tracks Ahead. Will have to look for that. We have lots of real steam trains out here in CO, and plan to ride/see a few of them this summer.

Jace watched part of it (the end) and now keeps saying he wants to "watch the rocket ship." I assume he thought the train looked rocket-like.
It just sucks when they're scared. He told me the other night there was a ghost in his playroom (where do they get this stuff??) and, of course, mommy's first question was "can you see the ghost?" lol. Curiosity got the best of me
