I haven't done anything my entire pregnancy.....I had an abdominal cerclage (TAC) placed at 10 weeks and had to recover from that (similar to a c-section) and between that early (horrible) morning sickness and then contractions I haven't done a thing. I delivered my sons at 33 weeks and 35 weeks and am definitely at high risk for PTL this time, so I'm taking it super easy. I am not on complete 'bed rest' but I am suppose to be resting and laying down as much as possible. Just curious if anyone with 'normal' twin pregnancies continue to work out?? I am excited to lose weight and get back into shape after the babies come....I miss running so much, but they are worth giving it up for a few months!

Re: Is anyone working out?
My wife is having a normal twin pregnancy and she is not working out at all. We've always done triathlons, lifted weights, etc. together, so this is a big change for her. She just feels like rest is more important right now for her (not all twin moms in general) and being pregnant with twins is a good enough workout
I was told not to workout during my twins pregnancy. My OB's said they don't like multiple mommies to be to get their heartrate over 130-140, I can do that with about 10 min. on the recumbant bike. They told me to walk and swim if I wanted, but nothing else. I too was sick until about 16 weeks and then at 18 weeks my feet started swelling so bad, I had to elevate them at all times that I wasn't walking or sitting for work.
I didn't start working out until about 3 months PP because I was so exhausted. By the babies first birthday I had lost all the baby weight (45lbs.) and an extra 10lbs. that I was overweight when I got PG. I takes some time to lose the baby weight so don't get discouraged if you are not back into running condition within a month after having the babies. Takes some time and ease back into it.
I used to love taking the dog on hikes, but stopped doing so at the end of the 1st trimester. Even then, it was only once a week or every other week just because I was sooo ridiculously exhausted all the time. The hikes became a chore and not enjoyable. Then the sciatic pain kicked in followed by just feeling so heavy that walking isn't easy. I still get out for little tiny jaunts around our neighborhood, but again - it's a short jaunt.
I do feel guilty. With my first child, I walked two miles a day well into my pregnancy. Of course, I was 19....I'm now 40 having my 2nd and 3rd.
I am looking forward to getting back into my normal good shape though. I've always been an athlete until a couple of years ago, I stopped to pursue school. I'm not used to not being in any good shape. Hehe of course my round shape is pretty nice at the moment with the girls growing.
yes, I am full of mixed feelings.
I had some complications in the beginning, so I haven't done anything besides yoga. I wish I had continued swimming to keep my back muscles stronger because I think not working out has contributed to my back problems.
I used to be really active and I miss working out so much and cannot wait to be able to walk and run again.
I would love to see a pic of you in you third trimester "running". I could imagine you got a lot of stares! I feel enormous already and I can't imagine hauling this belly around for a run!! Pretty amazing.
But people thought I was going to explode when they saw me from the side!
I even made the cover of the sports page.
First tri I was still running about the same mileage as pre-pregnancy, but a lot slower. Right around 15 weeks, it went from being relatively easy to downright hard.
Right now I am still running, but very slowly. I try to do 3-4 miles 3-4 times a week. I have a feeling it will transition to a walk/jog and then to a walk. I do try to lift some weights a few times a week, too. Nothing crazy though.
I haven't had any complications or reasons to not work out yet. My Dr. said walking and swimming are best, but hasn't said I should stop running yet.

im 22w2 days and i workout....i do the stationary bike for 30-35 minutes 3-4 days a week and also do pregnancy yoga 3-5 times a week. my other workout is my 2 1/2 year old toddler!
i had a great pregnancy with my first and my OB and MFM say i look great and that everything looks great "down there". (cervical length right now is 5cm). ...ive only gained 8 pounds so far....with my pre-preg weight being 126 (im 5'7) but my MFM is fine with it.
i dont know what id do if i couldnt workout bc it makes me feel so good. but if i couldnt, then i couldnt. im kind of trying to be active now bc i feel like around 28 weeks im just going to be more tired and be able to physically do less.
this is me, too. i also had a very easy, less than 5 hour labor, which the doctors said was from being in such good shape. i literally barely had to push (i think i pushed 5 times total, for both) because my ab muscles were so strong.
i am always surprised at how many doctors say NO workingout. of course if you have warning signs, its better to be safe than sorry. but like most things, its not all or nothing - there is something in between running 10 miles and not moving.
my doctor actually told me that swimming was even better than bedrest because it takes all the weight off your cervix. it also keeps your body at the best temperature, and your HR low. i loved being the pregnant woman at the pool...i totally miss it.
Wow! You're right you didn't look that pregnant from the front.I think I was your size at 28 weeks at 20. One of my babies has too much fluid so that is part of the reason I am already enormous.
