Its a sad day for my right "sad boob"

I think I will have to retire my right boob because it is not producing much milk and my DS does not like it. I've tried to nurse him on that side to keep my milk up but he squirms and falls off of it and its just not working anymore.

I am throwing a retirement party for sad boob today and am now down to good ol' lefty.

Did anyone else have to do this? Im bummed! Please share your stories...

  • I might have to shortly....my sad side (also my right) gives me BARELY 0.25oz during a pumping session, usually doesn't cover the entire bottom of the bottle.  I always put LO on that side first until she squirms and fusses, then I switch her.

I've been doing hand expression after pumping and I'm able to get a decent amount from my sad side - like 0.5oz maybe?  (I realize that's not really decent, haha.)  I think it just doesn't respond to the pump, and since I pump 5x per day and nurse 2-3x per day, well,,,,,this is how I got here.

I wonder if it will still be sad for #2??

  • my right side is the "sick" one too..  my dd will nurse that side, but she emptys it in 10 min.  pumping, i only get 1 oz per session, where left side will do 4-5 oz.  It was the same way for DD#1, so it may be the same with consecutive children.  I am trying to keep up whatever milk it will give us.  It seems to be ok though.  just not a huge producer.
