Albany area: Breastmilk to donate NOW -- please read

Ladies,

I came home today to find my freezer door was accidentally left part way open.  (It popped back open after I closed it this AM!)  Much to my disappointment, I have MANY bags of frozen BM that have started to thaw.  They need to be used in the next 24-36 hours or dumped.  I am going to feed some to DD, but am wondering if anyone on here could use it or knows a baby in need in the Albany NY area.

    I can't use them, but I just wanted to say I'm so sorry! That is very upsetting. Once we lost power and my stash started to thaw and I was so upset, but then it came back on and the bags were still mostly frozen so we just refroze them and hoped for the best.

    Maybe try some of the hospital maternity floors to see if anyone needs them?

    Not sure if they'll take a stranger's milk, but maybe worth a try?

    Thanks ladies.  I ended up finding someone who can take some of it through Human Milk for Human Babies.  I am going to feed DD all frozen milk at daycare today and then I may use some that I left in the freezer.  That makes me nervous since my pedi said not to let it thaw and refreeze but since it was mostly frozen still we may be ok.  oy....

    If it was still mostly frozen (slushy) you can refreeze.  I always flew with frozen BM and when we'd get to CA it would be somewhat slushy.  I'd pop it in the freezer and I had my back up stash ready to go.

    I'm glad you found someone that can use some though. :-)
