So this weekend my husband and I went to a charity event for an old friend of his to help out his 5 year old son. Yes, the event was in a bar and yes part of the event was a donation to the family for each beer sold. However, there were other ways to donate and we were also there for support.
My husband and I are outside the bar parking and a lady comes up to me to ask "Are you pregnant"? I smiled and said "Yes". Then she says "I really hope you are not intending to drink tonight, you don't want to harm your baby do you"? I said with a puzzled look on my face "No I'm not drinking". She said "Good", and drove off to find a parking spot.
In the moment I was just in shock, but what I should have said was "Actually, I have ever intention to drink like a fish, because my overall goal is to harm my baby".
Some people are just so strange!
Re: People always have an opinion....
"This ain't a baby belly its a beer belly!"
I probably would have responded to that situation exactly how you did and then, like you, wished that I had given her a snappy/smart alec response instead of the nice, logical one. I can't believe she actually stopped and said that!
We live in a small town where pretty much everyone works at the same company as I do. This weekend we had a party to celebrate getting back from our assignment in India and I made my friends go buy the alcohol for the party because I was scared of being the talk of town if anyone saw me buying it. Obviously I did not drink any, but I couldn't have guests and no booze for them.

LOL! See I'm horrible at these situations. That is the perfect comment!
OK, I totally get where you are coming from and I would have been annoyed and really taken aback by her approach... But does anyone else feel slightly excited by the fact that people seem to care about you and your baby?
Maybe I am crazy
