blood clot

I had my c-section on Dec 7 . Last week I started having uncomfurtable pain in my upper leg, I didnt think much of it. On friday I noticed a red spot on my upper leg by my knee,I have had pain after walking for long time and standing for long periods. We were in the NICU last and I asked the nurse there and she said it looks like a blood clot and I needed to go down to the er. Went to the er and sure enough I have a blood clot in my leg. They admitted me and put me on blood thinners right away. I feel like its one thing after another. Had baby at 28 weeks after emergancy c-setion, really bad pre-e , baby in NICU , now a blood clot in my leg. What else can go wrong... Atleast Noaln is doing great.

Re: blood clot

  • I'm so sorry you are having a rough time.   I am glad that they caught the blood clot though.   How scary!

You are not alone with the "one thing after another" thing though.   I had a c-section on Dec 2nd.   Come to find out there was an infection starting in the placenta.   Well a week after my c-section, I found out that the same bacteria was now infecting my c-section incision.   Of course the ONLY antibiotics that will kill this bacteria can't be taken while breastfeeding, so I have had to pump and dump for the past week.  :(   I also have a wound vac on the wound (no fun) and home health coming out 3 times a week.

This morning, the home health nurse told me she heard an irregular heartbeat while listening to my heart.   Then this afternoon, after consulting with co-workers and calling my PCP, she called me and told me to go to the ER!   THANKFULLY, there was no irregularity when I went into the ER but I was totally freaked out.

The reason I tell you all of that, is because you are not alone with crap going wrong.   I hope things start getting better for both of us!

  • Yikes!  That's scary.  I'm glad you asked the nurse about it.  Hopefully the blood thinners will do the job and you'll be discharged soon.

I'm glad your little guy is doing so well.
