Cloth Diapering

Kawaii It Is!

So I've decided that we'll be supplementing our small BG dipe stash with mostly Kawaii pockets. I have to purchase 30 or so and I'd like to try a few different kinds from them.

I'm thinking of the:

* Original Cross Over Round/Squared Tab Snaps

* Pure & Natural

* Bamboo Minky

I'm interested in the Heavy Duty ones but I know they have suede on the inside and I'm afraid that'll be the most likely to irritate her skin.

They have this Multifunction Pack with 6 Heavy duty suede cloth inner, 6 OS Snap, 6 Fun Print, 6 Snazzy Minky, 6 Bamboo Minky but it has those ones with the suede cloth and no Pure & Naturals... but it's only $190!

 How would you break down your purchase? Or should I get the pack?

And if I could add a second question in, what diaper cream do you prefer for use with your cloth dipes?

Re: Kawaii It Is!

  • We just bought 12 minky's from ebay (new in package.) Granted, baby isn't due for 3 weeks, but they're all washed, stuffed and snapped down to newborn size. We paid $70 for the 12 and they each came with 2 inserts (so 24 inserts total.) We didn't get to pick colors/patterns, etc, but I could really care less that this little boy will be pooping in a purple diaper. :)

     Good luck! Let me know if you'd like the link to the ebay site where I purchased.

  • I have a lot of Kawaiis and I like them a lot!  I have every kind of Kawaii except for the Pure and Natural (I started when my LO was 5 months so she was over 15 lbs)

    I don't know what kind of BG's you have but the 4.0 have suedecloth too.  The Kawaii heavy duty and the round tab black/white theme are suedecloth.  I really like these a lot.  I think they are actually becoming my favorites (second to my BG 4.0's). I like the heavy duty because of the aplix an i use it for overnight.  The aplix is strong and durable and I just love the fit.  The round tab is also great and seems to fit my LO perfectly.

    My understanding is that the Pure and Natural are NB size?  Not sure how old your baby is but those go to 15 lbs.  I haven't tried those.

    I love the Minkys but even after prepping A LOT, they still leak for me.  They last my LO about an hour and then they leak.  My favorite are the Mom Label.

    I have mostly the OS square tab and really like those for my LO.  If I had to break down what to purchase I would do more of the heavy duty ones and more of the black/white theme round tab, but also keeping a bunch of the OS square tab.  I'm not a huge fan of the minkys but I know others like them.  I also have 1 overnight diaper that works well, but I think the heavy duty is better for overnight.

    ETA: Sorry just realized you are still pregnant so the P&N probably would be great for you!  I have no experience with these but for my next, I will definitely buy some of these since I've been happy with Kawaii.

  • I can't speak to the Kawaii questions because they didn't work for us.

    We use the grovia magic stick as a preventive and have never had any diaper rash (even with multiple rounds of antibiotics).

    For some reason, I didn't know that. We have the 4.0s so I guess since it doesn't say it right on the front package I always assumed it was cotton. Thanks! That helps my decision making!

  • I love the Kawaii Snazzy Minky and haven't ever had an issue with leaks. I am looking at trying their heavy duty though. I think a variety would be a good idea and worse case, if the suede cloth does bother your LO you can always sell them.

    We absolutely love the CJ's Butter. It also works great on eczema.

  • First of all, I don't see the point in having more than a wash load + a day more (to wear while washing). For us, 25 pockets is more than enough. Don't overbuy, and don't overbuy one brand.

    We have about 20 square tab aplix and 3 good night heavy wetters. The gnhw have worked great for us.

    Sorry to hijack this post but do they still sell the square tab aplix?  I guess I completely overlooked those when I was ordering because I love the Kawaii aplix.

  • I got a few types of Kawaii a few months ago to have some easy daycare diapers and I have been pleased so far.  My son is too old for the pure and natural so I have no feedback on those

    .  We have diapers with both the microfleece and suedecloth inners.  I prefer the suede cloth.  So far the microfleece seems to be a bit rough as it has piled with use.  We have some Mom label minky diapers, and love them DS is a heavier wetter but no problems with leaks...my husband says that the minky's are what he'd want to wear if he had to wear diapers they are so soft.  The minky's seem to fit on the smaller end so your LO might be into them sooner.

     We have both square and round tab OS's and I prefer the square tab.  The opening to stuff the insert in the round tab is in the front and I find that makes it harder to get it on LO and keep the flap that cover's the diaper inside and not have it ride out and sit against his belly.  I got some Heavy Duty as well and they are my favorite.  I generally don't like aplix but I just really like these diapers.  This could be because I actually find the Kawaii snaps a bit tricky compared to our other diapers ( however this is unlikely to be an issue on a newborn, more on a wiggly toddler).
