NBR: Disposing of ammonia & canola oil

I did some cleaning out/organizing this weekend. I have a bottle of ammonia that I know I've had since college (so, over 10 years) and a half used bottle of canola oil that has expired. How should I dispose of these? Dr. go og le said I could pour the ammonia down the drain with a lot of water, but I guess I'm hesitant to do that without a second opinion. And you ladies are my second opinion. Big Smile  How do you think I should dispose of these 2 containers full of liquid?

  • For the canola oil, I'd make sure the lid was on tight and throw it in the trash. If you  want to recycle the bottle, I'd pour it into the smallest bottle/jar possible that it would fit in and throw that away. I've had our trash bags leak, and shudder to think of the mess if oil leaked out of the bag while it was being walked from our kitchen to the front door.
