Mini vacation locations with kids: Recommendations please?

I'll have off the week after Christmas and thinking about taking a few days trip to the mountains--NC, TN, etc.  Anyone have any fun locations for stuff to do with an almost 3 year old? I'd like for her to see some snow and maybe go tubing. TIA!

    We are planning to do Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge w/ my family in January.  I think Gavin's going to have a blast this year... he's finally at the age to really enjoy it.  Sure, it's a giant tourist trap, but that's the fun of it.
