NBR: Almond Bark?

I was rushing through Aldi's for a few quick things yesterday, I wasn't paying attention and bought almond bark instead of chocolate.  I have one chocolate flavor and one vanilla, anyone every use it for coating pretzels or anything?  Is it any good, or should I just toss it?

  • I've never used it, but my mom uses it all the time for covering pretzels and cake pops.  I'd play with it!

    Does it taste good?

  • I actually just had almond toffee for the first time last!  I got a box from Enstrom Candies (online), and it was amazing. I don't know how that compares to BARK though (in terms of taste).

I'm more of a peanut person, and you'd never find me eating almonds, but I loved the toffee.  What are you doing with the bark?  I'm not sure I understand your question about coating pretzels.

  • My MIL uses it and it's ok. I'm a chocolate snob and prefer the real thing. That's MHO. I'm sure no one would notice.

Almond bark (also known as vanilla flavored candy coating) is an artificial chocolate made with vegetable fats instead of cocoa butter and with coloring and flavors added.[1] It can be bought in 1.5 pound packages, in blocks, or in round discs where candy supplies are sold. The confection is commonly used to cover or dip fruits, nuts, cookies, or crackers, in place of real chocolate.

  • Gotcha.. I must have been thinking more like nut brittles.  Sounds good to me!
